#How to draw eyes on a small scale? + other critique

Usually having an understanding of human anatomy will help you figure out where to place the eyes
And making sure that the eyes have correct perspective in relation to the face shape+direction he/she is looking in
It also helps to follow the art style of the figure
@gusty iron
Im having less trouble placing the eyes, i know where they go, its just the structure of the eye itself in perspective + at smaller scale than im used to working with
I see. Try practicing drawing the same eye at larger sizes on a different piece of paper
Like a dozen times
It also helps to find a pencil/mechanical pencil with a really, really fine edge because it limits smudging and accidents
Then start to scale the drawings down to the size that you want
Then transfer the technique to the real drawing
Ok! Thank you!!
@gusty iron if you do end up doing it please ping me with the finished product, i would like to see it!
Ofc!
Im gonna do a couple eye studies to make my eye style a little more realistic i think that will also help my current style
Good idea
And then ill move to drawing them stylized for the characters
Yeah, realistic drawing is the key to drawing cartoonish art styles
Thats been my basic mindset this year and it lowkey feel like im relearning how to draw but its kindof nice to learn again
I focussed a lot more on pose studies not too long ago
Is that a yt channel?
Mechs tend to have different proportions
Humans are really just fleshy mechs anyways
Then have fun with it, adjust the promotions if you need to
The later end of my pose study :
150% better than what i can draw lmao
Thank you 🥰
I spent quite awhile on it 😅
Its good
Can i suggest smth for you?
Go for it
Knowing your basic shapes for the underlying bone structure, then adding the body structure ontop
So u can see the hexagonal hip
Yes!
I always draw ribs and hips first in a pose
Rounded square shape for ribs?
Here let me draw it without the body over it rq
Ok
The front of the ribs is higher than the back of the ribs
putting this here so i can find my references later
Red=ribs green=abdomen blue=hips/waist
Does this look right?
(This drawing is also a sideview)
Your workin on it, personally i think doing a study and then finding what looks right to you is one of the best ways to internalize the technique that fits your style
Ill research how to do an art study
And I'm not exactly sure if I have an art style (which I'm not complaining about) bc i have different techniques in realism, anime art and other things
Ive found that a art style isnt something u get its just smth u have, and you wont call it your art style till ur proud and happy about it
Makes sense
Eyes i enjoy in others art
The eyes are very expressive
They are done very well. You can understand the exact emotion the characters are having just from the eye
Also, while I have you here, I am curious if you that the head is proportional to the body, it's nice to have another pair of eyes
So a little smaller then
Yes
Coming to the server was definitely the correct idea
I enjoy how positive everyone is, the only thing thats a little discouraging is when people are impatient
Positivity is good
But the insight from others is invaluable
Despite this being my first conversation with anyone in this server I feel light years ahead of how I was yesterday
Aw, trust there are so many amazing artists way better at helping than me
U just gotta ask the right questions
Yeah, these are good now draw a face with them
on a serious note, you should do the same thing with lips/mouths
I feel like there's something off with the jawline
Flipped the image and the eye on the right looks awful
Yeah this is why i hate that small sketchy scale for face drawing, u cant add hardly any detail
Practice is practice, it'd probably be a good idea to just draw heads are varying angles
Yup
Aww thx
