I don't think there's anything 'wrong' with it, it looks nice. One thing you could potentially do is add more variation with the color, though.
With underwater stuff, it looks to me like shadows usually get more bluish, while light stays green? It might bring in a bit more interest. It can be a pain going grayscale to color tbh, gradient map might be the easiest way to get that look. Also just color variation overall since we're pretty close to the subject.

ooh ok thank you!! i messed around with the gradient map before and i ended up mixing it with overlay to make this. and ill try add some more colors. im realising now that just knowing how light and color work doesn't mean it'll be easy when put to use lol. but tysm! hes my oc 🙃🙃
