I recommend starting to train on each part on its own (eye-hair-etc) then moving on to putting them all together
-I’m in the same situation but started a little earlier than you-
Either way good luck!

meager thorn
#

sorry I’m just bit confused with u said train

soft glade
meager thorn
#

Ok Tysm I understand now and what about the nose and mouth are they good?

trim stream
#

Just to add on from own experience, while yes learning about and practicing different features can help faster improvement, you should still be practicing the face all together. I would also recommend breaking things down into shapes. like choosing a shape for the eyes, could be an oval, diamond, square. Different shapes convey different feelings, a guy with sharp eyes might seem menacing compared to a guy with soft, oval eyes. Also breaking down things like the nose, ears or mouth into base shapes is also important.

#

Also great work for a beginner

soft glade
#

What may be good for someone may be bad for someone else

trim stream
#

Glad you added that on lol

meager thorn
#

Here’s a couple of practice I did of eyes and nose I did

#

Lately I’ve been busy so i couldn’t draw everyday but at least i try to when I have time

#

Also this was from yesterday

#

And this was from today

#

Still working on the facials features

meager thorn
#

More practice I did

#

These were from today

#

Jawline is off again I lost it

#

Was too focus on the facial features

meager thorn
#

@soft glade and @trim stream I’ve done what u guys have ask I can see I am improving

#

Here’s some arts works I did today

#

I’ve been thinking that drawings eyes and nose r pretty ez I’m slowly getting there but as u can see there I drew lips so from starting tmr ima to and also learn to draw mouths

soft glade
#

Honestly I’m a beginner too so idk- but I’m glad you’re improving keep going!

#

Oh use references if you don’t!

#

That helps a LOT!

meager thorn
trim stream
#

You’re definitely doing better, but I would recommend being mindful that the face is made of planes, not one flat surface. Also to keep in mind the underlying structure of the skull. Also, when you’re thinking about that the face is a 3d object, also en mindful of how things change from different perspectives. Like how the eyelids wrap around an eyeball, and how that look can change from different perspectives.

meager thorn
#

Here’s couples of shapes I did more to practice!

#

Didn’t wanted to finish this knowing I know it was bad

distant compass
#

same goes for me too

distant compass
# meager thorn

I love you for practicing faces, most artist don't do that and only focus on muscular anatomy

#

I recommend practicing individual parts ONLY first, before putting them all together

#

like by taking a help from a tutorial or a realistic picture/drawing for reference

#

tbh it depends on which art style you prefer, you not need to focus on realism alone if your goal is something else

#

If then, try looking into cartoonish or anime style references

distant compass

I can see it here, these type of practices helped me a lot too

Just a practice warm up

meager thorn
#

@trim stream @distant compass @soft glade u guys I feel like I’m not getting anywhere to my art work

#

Im just repeating I swear

#

Like every time I try and draw smh from the pinest it nun like alike yk

distant compass
#

don't think like that

#

you're a step closer every single day to that success you aimed for

meager thorn
trim stream
#

Yeah def! Also when you’re drawing shapes, practice from diff perspectives and warping it

If you get sick of practicing something without seeing results you should go for the basics or change the subject of practice to ease the frustration

meager thorn
#

Don’t mind the back ground 🙈🙈

meager thorn
#

I fucked it up the background

#

Was trying to shade making to realistic but not sure how to

background looks interesting tho

meager thorn

Not much i did today

Been busy for a while so I just got back to it

Tried to draw this at first

But sm1 help me and told ke my mistake so I redrawed it

#

And it turned into this

meager thorn

I had an idea so I choose to how to shade and make my work realistic

#

Did some practice as these 2 I was rushing don’t mind that L_Matisse

You're definitively improving. Comparing the most recent drawings to your first ones, there is a big contrast. You shade really well, and that's something to be proud of! It adds a good lot of character to your drawings, and your art style is unique!
I think that studying proportions and more facial structures would help, too. Your nose is well-built, but it seems a tiny bit out of place. Maybe if you tried to move it down slightly as to place it closer to the mouth.
Your art is beautiful! You're impŕoving with every passing day! :D

meager thorn
meager thorn
#

@left cradle I’m a bit confused when you say I should improve facial structure and proportions can you explain that in detail?

I mean, your faces are really interesting, looks like they're alive! But, some features are slightly misplaced, like the nose. Depending on your artstyle (if you're going for a more cartoon-like or realistic look), you can decide if you want to change it or not.
I meant that your features are very well-built, but, when you place them together in the face, they get slightly misplaced. Studying facial structure (how the face works) and proportions (the size of the features) would help!

meager thorn
#

Also Ty

left cradle
#

This one seems nice, and he has a more realistic artstyle, too.

#

Stydying the anatomy of the face is really important; in this way, you can get the hang of every feature's place, like the nose. There are many different kinds of faces and its forms, but they all follow the same bone structure (the skull).

#

I'm also studying it right now, trying to get a little better and all. We can do it together. :)

meager thorn
#

@left cradle

#

Dude the vid you send Dam like I thought it would be easier but nahhh it way harder than I thought like every 3 minutes? I must change diff drawing portrait Crazy for me. I mean what can I say yk I never drawn like this before every 3 minutes so yk

#

I’ll keep practicing it tbh. Looks nun like the pinest what I chooses

#

Sadly

#

😭

left cradle
#

OH MY GOD! You've improved so quickly?! That's amazing! Your faces look so much better now, dear!
Don't worry about them not looking exactly like the references. You're doing great. :)

meager thorn
#

Omd!!!

#

The eyes

Same size

#

Tysm brooo @left cradle idk what I would if you didn’t show me this im soo happy

left cradle
#

I'm glad that it helped! Seriously, you're getting the hang of it really fast. Practice is the key! :)

#

Give yourself more credit, too. You worked hard: that's why you got better.

I just started doing my first work out after keep repeating saying I’ll do it 🙂

meager thorn
#

Day 13

#

Tried to draw animals

cinder wraith
#

The racoon looks good!

meager thorn
#

Say truth it bad 🤣🤣🤣

#

I mean it looks like a wolf almost

#

Or maybe a fox

cinder wraith
#

No really It doesnt look bad

#

the squirrel tho is not great, understandable its not a front view its more like to the side

meager thorn
#

.

#

I fr need to catch up

meager thorn
#

I finally drawed but didn’t do much

#

I wanted to draw protrait since it been a while and notice I lost all my skills on it

#

I forgot how to draw face like normal if you can give me tips again?

meager thorn
#

.

meager thorn
#

.

cinder wraith
#

Mb i didnt see this in a while

#

maybe try the loomis method out

#

Or try to learn the guidelines and measurements to put every part of the face

meager thorn
#

.

meager thorn
meager thorn
#

I heard a year ago aka also on my note book that practice to draw every 1 min improves ur protrait drawing

cinder wraith
#

I would first learn how to draw circles and spheres and understand how they work or look like in 3 dimensions

#

Then u could move on with how to draw heads

#

At least thats what im doin rn

meager thorn
#

Smh like that

cinder wraith
#

Yes

#

Also

#

Everyday, try to do line accuracy and confidence exercises

#

So that ur lines get cleaner overtime

meager thorn
#

Alright

slate helm
meager thorn
slate helm
#

I would also suggest you putting less pressure when drawing, but not to a extent till you can't see it but also not until you engrave the paper

meager thorn
#

Right I see

slate helm
#

Also known how far away each facial feature is from another

meager thorn
slate helm
#

I recommend you to trace some sketches first just to get an idea on roughly how to draw

#

Personaly I learnt by tracing a few times then practice on my own

#

After a while it's muscle memory

slate helm
meager thorn
# slate helm

Trace I never rlly traced before plus I need like another to copy it don’t I ? How does tracing work on mobile

slate helm
#

Find a image, download it or screenshot

#

Turn the brightness all the way up until it feels like there's bleach in Your eyes then put a paper on top and use tape or bluetack to secure and trace

#

:D

#

You can also trace the basic anotamy rlly lightly then draw the rest yourself like just the outline of the head or sm

meager thorn
slate helm
#

And once you get a bit more advance you can use picrew for OC design help

meager thorn
#

Alright

meager thorn
#

Did some practice I now know a bit how to draw the front view

#

I think I’m improving

meager thorn
#

Do I probably need a bigger device

#

Or smh

#

Or is there like another way maybe ? Other than tracing

slate helm
#

It's just one of the practices like any other practice, I still do it today sometimes if I struggle on a particular piece

slate helm
# meager thorn

When it comes to 3/4 face angles, the chin goes inwards not outwards

slate helm
meager thorn
slate helm
#

1 to get better, don't draw the lines on the side of the nose

slate helm
#

Your time has not come yet warrior 🪖

meager thorn
# slate helm Mm I'm not sure

Ngl while I was trying to do tracing I was just thinking if I do that I can able to draw anything be even without it you using muscles to mermorise it

meager thorn
meager thorn
slate helm
#

Lol

meager thorn
#

Then shall I

#

I mean I just did a bit of tracing idk if it good I used many objects that near me to hold it still but still not very cleary

slate helm
#

Also the ears are alone from the ears to the nose

slate helm
meager thorn
#

Oh so the ears is beside the nose gotta. Length right then

meager thorn
slate helm
#

Just focus on the basic shapes

#

Also try not to do chicken scratching

#

And less pressure with the pencil :3

#

You got this

meager thorn
meager thorn
#

Did a few

@paper tusk

paper tusk
#

You need further practice on the Loomis method, but for now I'll let you know that you need to better understand what your drawing

You need to know what each guidelines means when you draw it and if you don't need that guideline, don't draw it.

And the Loomis method is a good method, but you need to understand a couple things about it.

When drawing the Loomis method, you're drawing a circle with another circle in it that doesn't really mean anything,

imagine it as drawing an apple then cutting its sides off a little, it's supposed to give you an understanding of the side planes and the a front and back planes of the head, and give you the direction and tilt of the head, if you look at the ones you drew in the photos you can see it doesn't really give you much of either.

I don’t get what I’m doing wrong I can defo see I’m doing it wrong but I don’t know what

brittle skiff
#

im not an expert but from what i remember about cylinders is that the line that goes across both the circles is supposed to cut both of the circles into equal parts, like a mirror! keeping that in mind could help a little with drawing them

#

so you could start by drawing the first elipse/circle and then draw a line that cuts it in half (angled in a way that makes the two halfs mirror each other) and then based on that line draw a second circle that is also cut in half by it

brittle skiff
#

ye a lot better! A_A_thumb the upper left one isnt really right but you are getting there :33 good luck with those!

meager thorn
#

Also I was wondering do you know any tips for drawing nose I tried to some on yt but it just Donest fit

I’m not sure if I should go back to doing tracing it then draw it by myself

i dont have any sorry :(( i struggle a bit with drawing them too, i usually just put a line there and hope for the best

Hi guys this is me nicole I lost my acc on my main I couldn’t log back in but here I am once again drawing back to day 1

#

Last week when I started to draw I noticed that I had forgotten how to draw, so I had to go back to the basics. To refresh my skills, I looked through my old drawings and compared them to where I’m at now. Then, I redrew some of them to help regain my confidence and improve my technique.
