portrait simplification

I simplified this portrait references down to 5 values 1 edge and blocky shapes, while i do like simplification of the shade I don't really like the shading can someone explain to me why does it look off?

I think the shades are accurate, the only thing i think is off is proportions, in the photo the nose ends almost at the side of the face, the chin i think should be slightly longer and the jaw could be softer and angled up more. In the reference the back of the mans neck goes at a much more vertical angle, keep what you have but bring it down maybe if you think its bothering you. Amazing work, i wish you luck

Here’s advice to nailing proportions!!

Try and make your own units

Ex: the nose is 4 eyes long

From the tip of the nose to the bottom of the chin is another “ 1 nose “ long

Your eyes are a little too big

And the nose is too small
