if u wanna improve rela fast try and research digital painting tutorials, they boost the process a lot I've heard.

might be a bit difficult tho.

Maybe try shading with another color? For skin i would advise you to try something pink-ish or purple-ish

basically soft shadows will either be a similar color to the environment or a darker tone of the subject color (usually human skin) but I've really only noticed it for bright lights instead of shadows.
