This is more of a commission or a free request rather than art help.
I would recommend next time instead of tracing the base you instead use it as a reference
Still this should be mainly for help and critique with art
Yeah youre still essentially asking for free art. If someone is asking for ocs to draw thats one thing, but once youre asking someone to draw your oc for you then it is asking for free art
Ah and even if that's true you should credit the base artist ^^ since it's heavily referenced
Fr fr
If someone asks for ocs theyre just wanting someone to tell them to draw something to get their brains turning. But if you make a post asking someone to draw it thats a no no
You didn't reference it you straight up traced it.
You just lied straight up lied
And before you make the argument. No, it's not heavily reference. You just traced it. Tracing art straight up Gets you know where especially when you don't credit. The original idea is who spent Years developing their skills, but then there are some people who choose to take those years of dedication and trace wonderful artwork. You're probably just don't do it.It's not worth it.
It is possible that theyre just really good at eyeballing
You still traced
Hey its ok. You dont need to get upset about this. Its not that big of a deal plus theyre in the minors age group just like you. Theyre still figuring out how to do things. I was guilty of tracing all the time at that age. Lets just move on from this as we all learn in different ways. So long as its not tracing with no acknowledgment of the original base its fine
I do understand that and I do apologize for my aggressive tone however I've had my art Trace multiple times over the years when I was still active on social media it is humiliating and degrading for someone just to take your work like that and claim it as their own when all they did was just draw over it.
I didn't acknowledge that they use that base until it was called out they claimed it was a reference but they lied straight up lied until it was shown through the overlay that it was traced directly and then they attempted to deny it.
This is a base tho. Which means they made it with the intent for people to draw over or even trace it. No need to get upset over this as its not even that big of a deal in this case
Okay understandable
I don't think I trace but I sometimes hover it over to see if the things are where they should be proportionally
But what does it mean to reference properly
Because I'm still stuck in the 1:1 copying
So there are varying degrees of referencing. Theres using 1:1 copying. Theres having an image that you use aspects of but are hashing it all together with several. Then theres it having influence over your art but isnt directly the content of your drawing. Im sure theres more but thats the basics of it
Sharing a bunch of examples different types of referencing
First pic will be what im referencing, second will be what i made
Yeah that's a nice dress
I'm still at the ultra beginner stage so I feel most comfortable with 1:1 copying
I should try to digest my reference a bit more
I've been trying that and failing with a pose recently too
The way I want it to be seems like it's anatomically incorrect though
So I just ended up referencing a post almost 1:1
I mean these are great examples of tracing done right and using it as a reference but the original poster straight up traced claiming it it was their art and only one called out claimed it was a reference and then when proven still denied
Hey lets just drop this bonabelle. Its not gonna lead us anywhere productive if we keep arguing with op on this
Agreed don't know why I made such a big deal of it that's on me
Hi, @opal dragon here is my "yassified" version of your OC. I really enjoyed drawing it. I think your design looks great, but I added some ponytails to make the ribbon stand out more.
And to be honest, I don't see the problem with asking someone to draw something for free; everyone has the right to refuse if they don't want to. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the final result.
It's against the rules to ask for free art in the server as it enables beggars and lowers artist self esteem. You can OFFER free art but you can't ask/beg for it. It's not a healthy environment to learn in.
Being an artist is no different than any other paid for labor. Many artists have gone to art school, spent plenty of time and dollars taking a variety of classes that will help them improve skills and increase artistic knowledge. It’s insulting to ask of an artist who is serious about their profession, and have invested into their chosen profession to give or produce anything for free. Please do not ask or expect our artists to work for free.
