thats artblock fromho you describe it
take a brake
thats what i did
just forgetting my past mistakes and drawing just because its funr eally helped me
i'll try that, i haven't actually taken a major break since i started art again a few weeks ago
Okay I know this is a weird trick but draw cubes I don't know if this is just a personal thing but it always gets me out of our block just drawing cubes it doesn't even have to be like a fancy angle kind of thing it just can just be the connecting two square things
Or leaves doesn't even have to be a fancy detailed Leaf I can just be a simple little cartoon leaf and then we are done you can add little eyes on it and then a little 🙂 and then little stick arms and legs
simple and Goofy
i tried it for a bit and it's quite therapeudic, im probably still going to be off art for a day though xd
I practice using the methods from this video. https://youtu.be/AB9yTNfE3go?si=hbMK5ndelE58LAFi

Hey friends, for the past several months I've been trying to figure out the fastest way to improve in 1 hour, and I’ve finally come up with what I call “The Blind Method.” Enjoy :)

4 Things I W...
Just in like 2 days and I already see improvement
When I was a beginner, I never satisfied with my art. but I overcome it by thinking that I'm sucks and failing will make me growth. Now I'm not a pro yet, but somewhere around intermediate.
girll your doing it all wrong
you need to switch it up on occassion to make it fun for yourself
dont just learn random fundamentals, set a goal and work your way so you can draw how you want
i follow that channel, and that method was the only one i could not achieve, i will give it another try
i can see that advice being helpful - but when failing to observe the reasons why failure happens, it doesn't exactly help to keep pushing for more failure (which is why advice boards are a thing i suppose)
im glad it does work for you though
i have such a broad scope of how i want my art to look like, so it's a lot harder for me to focus directly into 1 aspect while still maintaining the vision i had
i'll definitely try some background practice once im done with my break - thanks for reaching out!
I first think it's complicated but when I tried it myself, it's really easy and I found some improvement in short time. This method actually work. Btw I study Yoneyama Mai.
To have a better observation. I read art books. I got some books recommendations from Saito Naoki sensei, these are very helpful.
i actually have a very similar inspiration as you, i take in yoneyama mai's work for inspo as well as saito naoki's advice xd
i definitely do take naoki's advice from time to time, though admittedly i haven't seen his content in a bit
maybe i'll go back to watching him
Book that I read for background is "○×でわかる風景作画神技作画シリーズ" even tho I can't read Japanese, just looking at it is enough for me to understand.
For lighting and reference, I read Color and Light by James Gurney
These books are for people who already understand fundamental, but read it as a beginner will help you later on
maybe i'll look into written works when i have more ambitious projects
'maybe' because im still relatively new and it seems like a bigger time investment than simply watching a youtube video lol
A book is around 230 pages, but those pages will teach you better than any art school, because you're learning from the master.
When I draw something I don't understand, i always comeback to these books for reference
I also read books that teach about learning
Many sometimes, u just need a break from drawing and read or watch sth. That will help you.
Oridays said this "watch a decent tutorial and practice it 10 times is better than watching 10 tutorials trying to find the perfect method"
Or you can just take example of PewDiePie, bro just draw to have fun out of boredom and get good after 100 days.
this is kinda profound actually, since a person only really needs one method for their particular style, and branching out to other styles just only requires a bit of change or learning one other method
definitely something to note, thanks for mentioning!
i definitely envy pewdiepie's carefree attitude when entering art, he only compares with himself and makes judgments based off that, which is admirable
he also had a really manageable goal for how much time he had to spare for art, which is also great to take note of
The point of drawing is to have fun, so take it easy with your own pace. You don't have to get good overnight or sth.
You practice for days and see no improvement, review the missing point of your practice and keep going. That's what I do before. But now I practice my eyes by fixing, giving advice for others people art.
Maybe you can just post your art on discord and ask somebody to point out what you're doing wrong.
i'm all for seeking criticism or taking advice from others, but i'll feel bad if i keep relying on others to see what i can't
definitely a hard thing to balance with oneself, but i think i should just leave the advice seeking to problems i truly can't observe
You need knowledge to observe, other people have knowledge and can give you it so you can observe later on. (Probably why your thinking you don't have observation skills) So technically you can independently learn and get knowledge which takes a bit of more time because you yourself can't see the parts where you need to improve on. Or you can rely on others to give you knowledge like a tutor to a student, they make you see what you need to improve on maybe even how to improve on it, then you can practice and later on you can observe it after you get information. I recommend learning by yourself and by geting advice, it's way faster and effective. Observation can't be done if you don't know what to observe on,
don't worry about relying on us, we all choose to go into this page because we want to help so if you want you can, there is no need to feel bad about it.
thanks for the wordy response! while i know that learning from other artists is really helpful for getting over a block, it's more of a personal grudge to not rely on other people's help for me, since i have the fear that i would become too reliant on other people , and leading to carelessness and overreliance could make me stray away from what i had intended with my art in the first place
ofcourse, i can personally filter and apply what i think looks right, but for such an abundant source of information quite easily accessible for my needs gives me that sort of fear
