Hello! I'm a beginner on digital art and anatomy.. i really need help on where to start for anatomy practice because i know i suck rlly badly also reference was from pinterest if you need to see

#

i also need help with hair🙁

slim coral
#

i didnt want to mess with the art style bc its the thing that makes a drawing unique, but i tried to sketch out the basics that you should try to follow on the body! i also recommend making the finger tips at first more square like to then shape them. i alsi think that the head and the top hair should maybe be a bit smaller but overally youre doing absolutely great! : D

#

the lines are quite shaky bc im on mobile

amber adder
#

tha,k u so much ^_^

#

do u have any suggeations on where to find references? or uhh tutorials because pinterest barely has references i like 🙁

slim coral
#

hm what kind of refrences do you prepare and for what exactly?

#

if youre looking for poses i recommend easypose 3d on appstore / google playstore

amber adder
#

i just need references for anatomy really

slim coral
amber adder
#

okay thank u :3

slim coral
#

your welcome

amber adder
#

idk how to make the clothes look more like clothes :( and the eyes r really bothering me

slim coral
#

hm

#

for the eyes start with making them maybe slightly smaller and either the top or bottom of the pupils visible so in the future you could potentially have more expression variety. the clothes just need to maybe be more different shaped and slightly wrinkled on the sides especially when wearing baggier pants with a tight strap. for anatomy your legs were a bit curved on the wrong place and maybe hands a bit unsymmetrical. do you sketch before drawing?

amber adder
#

but thank u

slim coral
#

its okay. i promise youll improve even if its slow. it went really slow for me too but i recommend taking breaks and not forcing anything.

#

and youre doing great thats for sure. just dont give up and someday youll reach freedom with drawing.

amber adder
#

thank u very much :3 ive been doing this since i was young but i gave up when i attempted bodies. thank u for your help

slim coral
#

oh ive been in that place. just know that with patience comes progress and if digital doesnt exactly fit you, you can try doing traditional. i mostly never sketch anything on digital, just trace my own traditional drawings over with digital. i generally feel more comfortable with a pencil in hand and an ereaser on the side.

amber adder
#

ohh i see. i also feel that way but i wanted to start digital so i can get into commissions !

slim coral
#

well commissions can be done with traditional too but whatever you feel better with!

amber adder
#

hello! im back again idk if im doing smth wrong :(

#

i still need tips if anyone can give me some :3 idk if i improved a bit

rich dagger
#

you could trace some guidelines on the ref

#

so you can really learn some stuff instead of just kinda making stuff up

amber adder
#

okay thank u!

rich dagger
#

stuff like that

#

stuff that helps u figure out where stuff is n such

amber adder
#

okay thank u very much

amber adder
#

does anyone know how to draw hair? also is this good so far?

supple finch
#

my biggest tips for hair is to give it volume and personality to match the character iykwim and make sure it’s not all clumped together but make sure it’s not too individual/spaced out(????) hair is like a happy medium not too much or too little of anything (sorry im absolutely terrible at explanations lol)

#

sorry if that made it more confusing

#

I’d send a sketch but I can’t atm 😭

midnight edge
#

Decide the flow of the hair and go with it.

amber adder
#

thank u guys :3 im still a bit confused but ill try it

amber adder
#

hey ! is this good?

#

im not sure how to draw belts

slim coral
#

oh the hair is great

#

just make the belt bigger and make it seem like its on the shirt

amber adder
#

thank u :3 ill try when i wake up later from my nap

amber adder
#

i gave up on the belt idea and made the shirt a bit longer :( but what design should i add to the shirt? and does anyone know any coloring tips? i dont know what brushes to use

clever sparrow
amber adder
#

ooh okay! any ideas for a good hard brush for ibis?

clever sparrow
#

Dip pen hard and fade watercolour mix

amber adder
#

okay thank u sm! :3

#

how would i render? like i dont rlly know how to

clever sparrow
#

Then you can click on the lock button so you don't go outside the lines

amber adder
#

thank u!

clever sparrow
#

I mean technically, I would go about learning lighting and everything first but you probably want to finish the painting so I would recommend practicing later

amber adder
#

alright :) thank u again!

amber adder
#

Hello! is this good?

rich dagger
#

i don think there should be a gap where the armpit is tho

#

the arm kinda touches the body at that pose

#

if u do that pose irl youll notice that ur arm is basically touching ur body

amber adder
#

is this better?

#

the only thing botherinv me if the left arm's hand but i cant fix it

#

i also made this last night :3

rich dagger
amber adder
#

is it ok to trace references? i always try to do it without the reference but it always comes out wrong

rich dagger
#

wait

#

i kinda trace over the ref and try to replicate it

amber adder
#

ah okay thank u

amber adder
#

i still need to practice hair, is this good so far

clever sparrow
#

Are you sure your a beginner? Your pretty good at this

amber adder
#

yeah i started on traditional but it wasnt like anatomy it was just faces cuz i was praciticng a splatoon style ^_^ but thank u!

amber adder
#

i still need tips for hair, im still practicing that :3

clever sparrow
#

This is a hairline, very important to draw also make sure to draw the head as well.

#

Uh so know what direction your hair is going in as well, so this part is about gravity more than anything. Some people make the hair go more pointing to the face some people do it differently than that. Just make sure that you know what direction hair is falling in

#

Let's say this is a hair strand, how your actually going to make it look more like hair is in a few shapes

#

It's a v and a upside-down v, make sure it's following the curvation of the hair too!

#

Okay that aside, let me show you how to do the grouping and fun part really

#

Top of the head has a bit more volume, and also as long as it looks like it's flowing correctly you can make it wavy since most straight hair still has a bit of wave. Im teaching straight hair rn because that's easier to start with : )

amber adder
#

okay tysm ^_^

clever sparrow
#

Waitt, not done yet. If your adding bangs you should let the volume show up a bit and draw this hair thing. Yeah now I'm done, all that's next is like erasing stuff.

clever sparrow
amber adder
#

either theyre repetitive or theyre wonky

clever sparrow
#

This is a very simplyfied shape, but most bangs will follow this

#

Just try and follow the simplified shape's curvature, yk how it's going more up in the middle try and acknowledge that

#

(each hair strand also comes from the hairline so don't forget that either)

amber adder
#

ooh i see

#

tuank u again

clever sparrow
amber adder
#

idrk what to shade :(

amber adder
#

is this good for the shading so far?

slim coral
#

well i actually recommend being way braver with the light and shadows

amber adder
slim coral
#

i guess

amber adder
#

what about the hair? any tips on how to shade that

slim coral
#

ooh i dont know shit about shading

#

im literally learning that myself

#

but first just find where the lights coming

#

all that i can give you is an exmple of what ive learned

amber adder
#

okk tyy ^_^

slim coral
#

i dont know if its accurate tho im just imagining smth

amber adder
#

its ok! this is what i got from it

#

ignore the glasses theyre just there

#

there inhope this is better :3

slim coral
#

add more highlights to complete the atmosphere!

tawny forum
# amber adder how do i do that? gen😕

theres many tutorials on youtube, but ill give you a simple explanation.

gesture drawing is just quickly drawing poses that you see without over-complicating them! theyre usually timed

clever sparrow
# amber adder hai any tips on how to draw in this style?

Those are two different styles but if your going for the anatomy on the first one (well you would need to understand regular anatomy first) you would have to pay attention to the coloring, more boxy shapes for the hands, big stylized head. Expressions are definetly more like Disney like expressions so its exaggerated which makes it look very pretty. For the second one, also pay attention to the colors they are way cooler than the warm colors of the last one. It's anime proportions so long eyes and not every outline is shown to make it easier to animate.

thank u guys !

how do u get ur confidence back in drawing? i stopped practicing / drawing because i kept getting pissed and lost confidence in my art 😕 i feel like the head is bigger than the body and i feel like it looks a bit weird 😕

clever sparrow
# amber adder how do u get ur confidence back in drawing? i stopped practicing / drawing becau...

There are a few things to realise to get your confidence back in your art, the first thing your doing your best. Second is that you can control thoughts and feelings for when you mess up a drawing or your drawing turns out bad, maybe your feeling a bit negative when I say mess up a drawing, just maybe tho. How to fix this isnt to be harder on yourself but to be a bit easier on yourself and rather then being sad about your drawing go and be more outgoing in this situation "ohh I did something wrong I will keep it in mind next time". Mistakes make your future drawings better so I wouldn't call it bad at all. Another extra thing that could apply but not sure if it does for your situation, so when we usually say we're bad at art were ussually have a really big expectation most of the time the expectation can be comparing to intermediates and pro's who have trained years into this. In tutorials or anything at all you will see really good drawings and perfect ones because it's people who have been drawing for years trying to teach others. But honestly don't think your going to be good in a few months it's not possible.

#

But it is possible if you keep going

amber adder
#

thank u very much😕 i just get easily pissed when smth doesnt look right to me .

#

i do need tips for how to make my art more on the cartoony side... originally i wanted to draw in a moe art style / a splation one but not rlly sure how 😕

rich dagger
#

well for me i kinda experiment with how i kinda form the body

#

like i use different shapes for different body parts depending on what i wanna go for

#

idk if this can help but

#

gimme a dec

#

sec

#

no dec

amber adder
#
