I am not much of a professional but I can try to help in some basics. First of what kind of style do you like to achieve and where do you want to start improving first?
A lil'video on the basics of art and fundamental techniques. If you're just starting out and want to improve your skills, this is the tutorial for you.
Most important things here are:
- How to understand and use simple shapes in your drawings
- Some essential exercises to help you practice and get better
- Easy steps to boost your art skills qui...
mostly i want to learn how to draw basic anatomy like hands and faces from the side
You should definitely look into anatomy. Proko has a nice body anatomy and facial anatomy series. Be sure to approach these as you would a class because thats what it was designed to be. Follow alongside the video. Pay attention to how he is explaining the feature being focused on and practice outside of the video. You may want to do cartoons but i assure you learning realistically allows you to adapt it however you want. No matter the style anatomy is an incredibly useful skill to learn
once you understand the fundimentals you can also use that basic knowledge to create anything, human, animal, monster... Knowing these fundimentals will step up your game a thousand times.
i have watched all these videos and tried to follow along but these are either advanced or i’m incredibly dumb
I also am a beginner, if its about anatomy I recommend you do this
If you do it a few times you will kinda get how big things are
At least for me it worked
A tutorial about how to draw a head and faces from a front- and a sideview.
I tried keeping it beginner friendly and easy so that you all can draw along :)

And another thing I also recommend is rotoscoping references especially poses so you can have an idea where the joints connect or is shaped when striking certain poses
Honestly, learn at your own pace, draw, learn from the artwork and apply it to your next artwork
And then repeat
tried following the shanspirational video and… yeah
the other arm always turned out bad augh…
Draw each step together on both sides. Not one side start to finish. It will be much more manageable this way
that’s what i did :( still looked not good
Uh im only seeing one side. Draw the biceps first then draw lower arm. Do it on both sides each step
Try learning shapes and how the shapes would look like in different angles ! It helped me a lot with my anatomy so when you think of anatomy or drawing the body or the face think of shapes and how it would look like.
I recommend studying a lot while you draw, try getting a picture of any pose or anything in general and just try to study it by the shapes !
There are a lot of pictures on Pinterest that helps with anatomy shapes like for the torso you can use a box and etc. !
I think it’ll help you a lot by looking at anatomy or pose references while drawing it’ll help a lot !
Warm up your hands and eyes first before you start drawing
Do the boring exercises not all of them
These are for loosening up your arm, not for mastering then

how do i draw eyes and mouth from the side? and does it look wonky/bad?
The one advice I would push is trying to break your idea of what you think you see vs what you actually see. It's breaking that part of your brain that symbolises everything.
For example, when you draw an eye from the front - you think of a football shape with two circles and lines going up for eyelashes. Think how a kindergartener would draw what they think an eye is.
But when you really break down an eye, you see the spherical shape of the eyeball, and how the skin is folded on top of it. And how the lights and shadows change the way the eye is shaded which create more form and volume or a sense of 3D. The lines you draw for a football shape eye are actually the edges of the eyelids and aren't just lines. The circle for the pupil is actually concave in the eye which changes how you draw the eye at different angles.
Try and draw a bicycle from memory.. And you probably can't draw a complete, realistic bicycle. You'll probably get the wheels, maybe a gear, a handlebar, the pedals..And it'll probably be drawn from a sideview. Someone who has drawn multiple bicycles in their lifetime from real life or reference are probably capable of drawing a bicycle at any angle, realistically.
It's essentially, drawing what you see and not what you think you see. Draw from life, try to improve your ability to visualise objects in 3D, so much so that you're able to rotate a box or cylinder in your head and see it at different angles
This all falls under fundamentals of art, and they're what will take you the farthest when beginning. But the hardest part is taking those first few steps. When I was young (pre 8th grade) my art just stagnated. I'd draw profile views but I didn't really truly understand what I was drawing. However at age 13-14 I dedicated myself to learning art and I am glad I did. It started with the fundamentals.

Drawabox is a great resource to start. Whether you follow their lessons or use it as a guideline to what you learn.
Anyways rant over.
