Are these good videos to start drawing with?

I have been wanting to do art for a long time now but idk where to start. Ppl have told me to just practice squares and stuff so I did that for a while but now idk what to do. Are these videos good to watch? And in what order? I’m not looking to draw realism, just want to learn anatomy/bodies to be able to do drawings and learn how to make cool little characters that don’t necessarily require anatomy. (I may be completely wrong, idk, I’ve just been told to start with anatomy and move on)

So the dynamic poses one id say is not super necessary when youre brand new but its great for later on. Also his coloring technique is shade in black and white and color it with blending layers. Not the best method in all cases. My brain makes more sense of doing flats then shading the flats. If it doesnt work for you then find another technique. Art is very diverse so theres no one way to do things

You should watch proko’s body, and facial anatomy series. Definitely useful to watch

So start with proko and his anatomy/facial series, then move on to more dynamic poses and coloring/color theory?

Just kinda get the basics down then start doing other poses when I feel comfortable

You absolutely can draw whatever poses yoy want but i feel its more important to get a feel for poses and anatomy before you jump into dynamic poses as it needs an understanding of both

As for color theory that is something you can learn the basics of but there is a ton of nuance in it and if you were to try and learn it all at once you may get overwhelmed

All those videos are great to learn from! I would definitely start with those and then search up more to fill in any gaps in knowledge if youre confused with anything.

Also feel free to check out what artist call "master studies" .. its just a fancy way of saying "copy other artists." When you directly copy another artist's work you're forced to make the same decisions they did.. this ends up ingraining those decisions, techniques, lines, colors, figures, etc.. and really helps with learning art quickly. (This is also what I recommend people do to learn how to draw non-realistic figures WITHOUT learning anatomy... basically copy other's anime/cartoon figure drawings as a way to learn, and then supplement with YT vids or even anatomy tutorials if you want to make your figures even better).

Its also important that you are accurate when you do your copies. if youre still struggling with major proportional issues, it creates bad habits and makes learning from copying far more difficult. make sure to strengthen your accuracy skills while you create copies.

So.. copy those drawings you see in the youtube videos. Make sure to take action by working and not just binge watching!

Hey i dont think this is something that really needs to be argued about. This is kinda a apples and oranges situation. Turab prefers one while Lin prefers the other
