depends for what, if its for school I suggest you do 1 page of your best works, then on page 2 you do your deconstruction (Anatomy method, Gesture method, Shading, and whatnot)
and finally if you want, your art resume, your experience, your skill level, you history with art etc...
This is an exanple method, Im def not the most knowledgable abt this so dont take my words for gold.
I assume u mean an art school resume portfolio atleast.
hii I did portfolio for art high school and uni so if you need help with those, feel free to dm me if you have more questions!
for school portfolio u need usually 20 works max, each on their own page
for commission portfolio it's up to u but u should include your best works covering things u would like to work on as your commissions
a page each?? dang mine wqs so much simpler.
So if youre talking about for art school it should be representative of the best of your ability as it is rn. So dont submit an old drawing from 5 years ago even if youre still proud of how it turned out. It doesnt represent what you can do now. Also when starting art school they dont give a flip about art style because at first you are not there for art style. You are there to develop your skill. Not show off your art style. You will have developed an art style by the end where it’s acceptable to make changes within reason to how the projects are meant to go.
For a job portfolio you have to develop one unique to the company you are applying for. You cant for instance with an animation studio for a character design position submit an impressionist landscape painting. Because it does not fit the job description that you are applying for.
And for commissions you really just need to show your best work of various types formatting that you are willing to do so people can see for themselves what exactly it is you can do and decide if they want to hire you. This should be representative of your skills now. Cause if you show one that doesnt resemble anything what youre doing now it will give a false impression and make people think you scammed them. Which you dont want
we had instructions but I find it better too, having many works on one page could be overwhelming but each work can shine on their own on one page better I think
Haha that’s what I did for my school
