wanting advice to improve

These four drawings are some I’ve done in the past four days. (not my characters besides the black oigtail girl btw) and something I’ve been struggling so much with is knowing how I should improve from here. I’ve tried experimenting more with colors than I usually do but I feel like I still ultimately fail at making the colors stick out in a good way.

But then again I could be missing stuff like more dynamic poses, bgs, lighting, etc.?!:

All in all, I wanna know what my biggest issues in my art is so if u see something u think I could improve pls tell me!

Use of yellows probably go more grayish muddy colors that blend with the skintones better

The second one is done very well, but

BEST THING TO DO

Is form your pallet before coloring

You could also lay a color layer on overlay or normal and play with the opacity until you like it

The fourth one is great

I MADE SOME ADJUSTMENTS

JUST REALLY GOOD AT IT WITH YOUR LIGHT SOURCES

The first one looks so out of touch or place because there’s not a lot of shadows

Even if it’s a really lit up room there should be at least some shadows gimme a sec

So just really understand your light source and look at references (I don’t thing you need to) but yeah, you’re doing great!! >;3
