this post isn’t going to be the brightest but. for the past year really i’ve been struggling hard. i’ve been struggling to even pick up my stylus and draw something because i know that no matter what i draw, i’ll end up hating it. i hate my art so much. i hate my style. i hate how unnatural all of it looks. i’ve wanted for the longest times to just draw characters in my own style that i actually like but it feels impossible. i use references but things still turn out wrong. i struggle so much with my style, even after doing studies of artists that i like. i’d kill to have an art style similar to someone who i admire. i really feel like i’m hitting a dead end and thinking about just giving up on the hobby all together. these past 2 days i would start a drawing, then i’d end up hating it and not finishing it. then i’d start a new one, end up hating it and not finishing it. and the cycle goes on. i’ve only made 7 complete drawings this year. i’m just so disappointed and frustrated that drawing doesn’t come naturally to me anymore like it once did when i was younger. this hobby meant so much to me but now it just upsets me. i don’t know what to do anymore or how to improve. it feels like i’m going backwards whenever i make a drawing, like each drawing is worse than the previous one. how do i get out of this rut? how can i actually get an art style i like? just. how do i improve and not hate art anymore 😭 i included the 3 wips that i couldn’t finish because i hated them so much, so if anyone has any constructive criticism please share 🙏 i’m really happy to hear any feedback. sorry this is such a long rant

If it helps I think your arts actually really good. I’m in no place right now to give criticism on your art other than with anatomy it might help to block out shapes when you sketch, like a square for the chest, etc. there’s tutorials on it for sure. If you love art and really wanna keep doing it you should. I’ve gotten in those ruts before but trust me it does get better, you might be a bit worn out right now tho and a break could help. But if it’s never made you happy and only ever caused you stress, maybe it’s best to find something that actually makes you happy! But I think you’ve got this and prolly just need to take a break.

Sorta like this- (for the blocking)

Hi there! I just want to say I totally understand how you feel and every artist has a dip sometimes. It's important to know that you shouldn't push yourself too hard and keep enjoying and having fun in your hobbies! Sometimes it's better to get your mind off things for a bit and start trying new things out to see what you really enjoy. Don't go too hard on yourself when things don't work out the way you wanted. I also wouldn't recommend trying to redraw a drawing and start shaping the bodies yourself which may be a challenge at first but it will definitely give you a less bad feeling about yourself because it doesn't look EXACTLY like the drawing you had as reference. Just start experimenting things and make a lot of mistakes! It doesn't always have to be right the first time. If an idea ever pops into your head go grab that pencil and start drawing! Don't force yourself 😁🩷 goodluck with your journey Raelyn don't get too worked up about it you'll get there eventually. Do what feels right and have fun

I just have to say, your art is really good. Rather than say you hate your art, tell yourself you are not currently satisfied with how your art is. Its a simple change of phrase but it totally changes the energy with it and even gives yourself a more positive outlook on it. With this change in attitude find out exactly what it is you are not satisfied with. Dont say “because its bad” dissect why it is not satisfying. Then experiment with ways you can make it satisfactory again. Dont be afraid to explore places you never thought to before. Sometimes where you had not gone is where youre supposed to go

"i hate my art so much. i hate my style. i hate how unnatural all of it looks." This is going hard to hear but you will never draw like the person you admire, because you aren't them. You're you, do things your way , there is no correct way to draw something as long as it works. Plus the real body is Asymmetrical in some parts like the face,. It's what adds charm to it. At least that's what I think. Take that advice as you will.

I'm not sure if this will be helpful if you're committed to digital art or what you've tried in the past, but I drastically prefer the feeling of a pencil in my hand on paper because it feels like I'm more in control and it lets the creativity flow more smoothly...also just allowing yourself to be bad or not like your art- if I have art block I'll just draw random shit- like not even think about it just let my hand move
