I have had this problem for so long. I pick up my hobby of drawing, draw a lot for like a month or two and then just not being able to draw correctly anymore and having no motivation. This is me right now, i feel the motivation starting to drain.

I really don't know what to do against this. Because if you say: 'just take a break' i try to but this break almost always results into a break of like 3 months were i focus all of my time and effort into that. I really want to draw but i'm just not motivated, don't see the point of drawing anymore and after a while my skills just seem to go downhill. I have been drawing like this for almost 3 years and this is why my improvement is so minimal.

I can't keep any hobby. It's with all my hobbies. I do return to making art (which is one of my best hobbies) and making music but between my art 'phases', as you can call them, there are a few months in between. i just want to keep drawing since this is a hobby im best at. Anyone havving the same experience or know something to help me with this? Anything would help.

Try to draw something new. Experiment with art styles or color theory. Do something different to what you normally do.

in addition to this, you can experiment with exaggeration of the body, head, features, etc, you can try to create monsters from the human body, let your mind go wild for a little bit. you don't have to keep drawing one thing unless you are trying to learn it by heart. but you eventually you will have to move one to a other body part since you can only get so good with a piece of the puzzle.

Firstly, you need to ask yourself WHY you are learning to draw.

If it's something just for fun to do sometimes, then it's fine to do a little here and there.

If it's something you want to be serious about and get seriously good at, then you can't rely on motivation.

Motivation comes and goes, you need to look deep into your "why" to find the DRIVE to work at it whether you feel like it or not.

Combine that drive with a good ol' dopamine detox and you should be good to go.

One further tip:

Schedule in a daily practice time. Doesn't have to be anything major, it can just be 30 minutes at the exact same time every day with the commitment of no matter what you feel like, you're going to spend that time drawing even if the outcome is bad.

Some Life advice:

In anything big that you do, whether it be learning a new skill, completing a big project or working towards any kind of goal.

You will start off excited and ready 100% to go all in. But that motivation WILL wane, and it will wane to the point of not wanting to continue. If you push through the "dip" things will get better and your excitement will return as you get closer to your goal. But you need to anticipate that dip and be prepared to push yourself through it.

This is how motivation works. Can't rely on it to get stuff done.

keep in mind that when motivation doesnt work, discipline and force of habit does

#

draw for so long that the act becomes ingrained into your body, and then you'll feel weird if you havent drawn that day
