Okay the issue with these is that you know the 3d form of the whole head.
But when it comes to the feature you can't seem to be able to associate 3D ness with the features. What I mean by that you're still thinking about features of the face as 2d stickers that you can apply to a model.
but I get mixed up with putting in the features
Perhaps you've seen tutorials on the Loomis Head. If you've got a wrap on that, then get ready to level up with the Asaro Head! In this head tutorial, we'll go over the importance of understanding the planes of the face, how it affects lighting, and why it's still important for stylized work like anime! Yes, believe it or not, it's true!
The Loo...
You have gotten quite good with the loomis head now you should try to understand the planes of the face better.
I show you the muscles and bones of the human face.

I don't know if these are good resources to learn about the asaro head though 🤔
ohhh that was the name of it!! Asaro!!! I saw it on an online forum but I couldn’t remember the name
regardless I think I will look into this. thanks!
It's alright you're starting out it'll take some time for you to get used to replicating the 3d on a 2D piece of paper.
Go look at yourself in the mirror. See how your face planes change with regard to rotation.
I find it quite helpful
that’s a good idea too
Unrelated but
This channel is about facial aesthetic it cites studies and I find what they tell to be really helpful when designing a character.
Hope you have a good day
thank you so much! this was really helpful and detailed :)))
aha! This is the answer right here. Using Loomis' method, the line you're using for the eyes is where the eyebrows should be
mouth also seems somewhat off, I think you should push it up a bit just a tiny bit, try measuring the space between your chin to your lower lip with your thumb and from the upper lip to the nose
oh 😭 😭 I think I also need to practice drawing guidelines as well as features
thanks!
Ur structuring is good, but Ur too afraid to go outside the structure you made, an example being the lips, it's clear u made the structure of the head, and then packed everything inside, the lips, and eyebrows should be a small bump outside the lines, nothing big but it really pops out the realism (the nose is a whole different story)
other than that, you just need a few small adjustments to Ur method and u will be smooth sailin.
I've heard of this too, but it's only been applicable in a couple of my drawing personally, otherwise it's a very undetermined method, some pieces work better with the eyebrows being the line, others the eye.
and continuing on to this, the chin isn't a point at the bottom, instead it's a flat plane about 2 fingers width down from the mouth, don't forget about the under chin, it will set everything at the bottom half of the head in place.
the 1 on the bottom right of the second image looks great, but the one on the left is a bit off, only because of the chin like I mention but mainly because the shoulder and neck aren't where they're supposed to be according to the head angle, they shoulders should be behind her head and her neck should be barely even showing, the neck u drew is for a head looking forward, but the head is looking in the direction similar to the bottom left drawing on image one, from a different angle.
