#i want to change to digital

You can buy a paper-like screen protector for your screen. But if u have a screenless one, its just a learing curve. Its a new medium after all
i have one without screen but i want a new one because i cant draw like that
not feeling the paper is one thing but without a screen im not really able to control what im doing
How long have u tried it out?
like 3 days but i cant even do straight lines
Skill issue. Have u tried turning on stabilizer?
im just going to buy one with a screen because like i said im not really able to control what i draw like that
Usually screenless takes a bit of time to get used to
Ur money. Just know a screen one ranges from 400-1000 depending on which ones u guy
So be prepared to research a good one within ur budget
im gonna change to one with a screen sooner or later so its kinda dumb learning without one now
till i can buy one i will just draw traditionally
i mean right now im in school but in 2 months i will go to work so then i can buy one
are you using a drawing tablet with a screen or without one?
I have upgraded to a screen one gut for about 2-3 years i did use a screenless one. Its a learning curve def
but its way easier with a screen right?
hello steamgamer, im someone that started art traditionally and then moved to digital after a while. some artists such as myself actually prefer tablets with no screen since your hand doesn't block what you draw.
yes i know what you mean but when i draw traditionally then i can clearly see what im doing and thats something i really like
also, as long as you can see where you're hovering over, coordination shouldn't really be a problem on tablets with no screen
what do you usually draw with? pencil? pen? paint brushes?
i use pencils
Not rlly. The only thing that improved was hand eye coordination. Traditional skills dont fully transfer so i still had to get used to the new program i was using and everything
As owl said its a whole new medium
then it shouldn't really be a problem
It makes for sense for u to practice with a screenless one for now to get used to how digital works while u save up. But up to u if u wanna not work on digital at all for time being
using a good brush does help a lot too to replicate the feel of pencils
If ur starting out and unsure if ull stick to digital: krita, medibang
If u know ur in it for the long run: csp, adobe (if u got money)
yeah ok thanks for helping
^krita's pretty nice for a free software since it's crowd funded and open source
or, you can just get csp/photoshop for free legally
Ik krita is good but its interface can be daunting for a lot of beginners. Medibang isnt as good as krita but the interface is much simpler
Screenless tablets do take some getting used to. You gotta build you hand eye coordination skills. But just like any other skill it wont materialize perfectly after three days. Give it time and just work on it. If after a year or so and its still being hard for you then go ahead and upgrade. Id imagine you dont really have a lot of money laying around, so you gotta consider when spending more of your money is actually worth it
yeah i mean like i said im in school but im going to work in 2 months so then its kinda easy buying one
Be careful how you spend your money tho. I work a fulltime job and i dont have a ton of leftover money to spend freely
i mean right now i live with my parents so i dont have to buy things like food
I live with my parents too. Still am not rolling in cash
Also once you earn money youre gonna sooner or later gonna have to understand the importance of managing your spending. As tempting as it may be for me to go to walmart and buy a PS5 and all the games ive ever wanted to play, i have to be careful. Not all things are necessary despite how intriguing it may be
Plus despite me living with my parents i have to pay for my car loans. I have to pay for gas. I have a dental bill i have to pay each month. I have to save up money to be able to afford paying for classes in the fall
On top of it all i have to make sure i have food for lunch at work. Often times i forget to bring some from home so i have to go buy some from a nearby restaurant
no i dont have anything i want to buy except for maybe a drawing tablet
and i mean i wanted to save like 400€ every month
Maybe not now. But trust me. You will want to spend more and more. When i first got a job all i ever spent on was games and stuff. Never actually considered what i needed. I had to learn how to manage my spending. I want a PS5 and a whole collection of games. I want to get a top of the line gaming pc. I want to have all sorts of stuff. But i have to stop myself from impulsively buying all that as much as i want it
ok i tried on my school tablet
i did a quick 2 minute sketch and its way easier when i see what i draw
Bad quality bc i just did a photo of the tablet
"skill issue" is probably the most popular advice I've gotten from any teacher ever.
Material doesnt make u better. Always the skill fr
no.2 advice right next to "the only reason Ur alone is because u don't have big enough muscles" 😂
lokey true tho, but I'd do many things for a charcoal pencil Rn.
except buy one :/
Take the procrastination route and make ur own charcoal which would 100% take longer than the trip to the store
I have charcoal sticks that I grind and carve into powder for shading, but using the charcoal sticks itself is a painful tragedy
yeah but i mean this isnt just a small difference
at the one tablet i can see what i do and on the other i cant
when it comes to drawing tablets then yeah, better material does make you better
Another quick sketch
So even with my school tablet while working with goodnotes its easier than with my drawing tablet
Im gonna say this as nicely as possible. No it doesnt. What u showed is the exact same as ur previous works shown in the thread and previous threads.
Instead of focusing on materials, focus on improving ur trade
I can make the same quality of drawing with a 50 dollar pen vs a ball point pen from bic. My skills defined it. The material does not. My art still looked the same from a nom-screen tablet and when i switched to a screen one
The only thing that was diff was hotkeys and speed
the ones on previous threads was traditional
and exactly that is my goal
without a screen i cant even draw like i can traditionally
Still doesnt change the fact that the medium doesnt change your skill. Skill is the determining factor for quality
yes i know but im still better with a screen, yeah sure if i start with a screenless one its the same, but i started traditionally
and drawing with a screen is almost the same
but when i draw screenless i cant even draw anything, like not even straight lines
Do you have an example with the screenless tablet? Cause we seriously find it unlikely that it would be that dramatic of a shift
no but i will do one right now
ok im sorry but im not finishing this XD
its too bad
and yes i did try making it look good
but i really cant without seeing exactly what im doing
its literally impossible for me
Like we said. It takes practice. You cant run when you can barely crawl
Ill be real with you the one with your school tablet looks worse than your traditional drawings. You cant expect your self to run when you can barely crawl. The same applies to digital art either any tablet
