#Skin Rendering

The best way to learn how to render skin is knowing the face planes and lighting. The two factors determines how everything will land with shadows and highlights
This is an example of what I’m talking about
Also ignore the actual face I know it looks all 👁️ in my drawing
Looks like basic shading to me. The lighting is coming from the top and its shading the planes thats not being hit by it
Its two toned. The main color and a shadow color
Yes but literally how do you do that
Like do you use opacity brush in black and just go over the areas you shade over and over going deeper for more darkness
Most dont recommend shading with black because it can cause the colors to look muddy
Its not black. Its a darker color shifted to the right (more blue)
Try using colors and going further in the saturation (and cooler on the wheel sometimes) for shadows :3
It looks like an opacity brush
ty 😄
ill try that when i draw next
but i think i did well on the hair
this was my first drawing trying to render stuff
Also remember not all shadows are hard or soft! They can be both smoothed out and hard shadows. Most don’t recommend using the airbrush a lot because of that
Its very nice, I’m still learning myself
i dont
this is my best lineart but you can see i have 0 clue what rendering is
Honestly breaking the face down into shapes and recognizing the planes of the face can help with determining where shadows and how shadows should be
I like it actually
yes i know i do the method with the circle and the + which i know isnt a good way to do it
You can deffo make some of your highlights sharper versus super smooth, i think it would add lots of dimension
i thought it was the way to do it until i started seeing videos where it gets clowned
ok
Tbh I use that method because im lazy and dont feel like taking the time to study the other method (.. or at all..)
You highlighted certain spots
Like the yellow orbs and lightning have highlights in them
At least i assumed the yellow orbs were supposed to be like, reflections
Of the light
its from a game
Are they separate orbs or like the light from his lightning stuff shining
its like particles around him
Ooh ok
Im not too familiar with most of those tbh
in the yellow one tho i used a reference
i should use more reference but i dont know how to find one
