Hi everyone! Would anyone happen to know why Honkai 3rd's art seems a bit too rigid? I feel like the lines are too "hard" or sharp? Or like it's lacking some form of freedom, but I don't know exactly what it is.
What trait would higher quality illustrations have that these don't have?
#Why does the art look stiff?

Impressive work! If you have everything on layers you should be able to knock down the opacity of the line art. Have you tried that?
If im not wrong, isnt their art 3d models rigged to look 2d?
That could be a reason why
it's not my art
these ones look like they're drawn, actually, considering we don't actually see such good-looking models in HI3
I noticed Hoyoverse artworks always tend to have very, very very sharp lineart which make the rendering (?) look very stiff
Yeah. The linework contrasts with the fluid coloring
so if they'd allowed the linework to be more dynamic (line weight) and colourful (like letting the colour alter the lines?), it'd look less hard?
Maybe. Thats my guess
what about how the characters tend to look very unintegrated with the scene? It kinda looks like they're pasted on
what creates harmony between objects in a scene and the overall scene?
does it have to do with how objects interact with each other?
I feel like all the art from these games seem very unharmonized (? idk the word for it) compared to other forms of art like anime and realism
is it that they are intentionally using very vibrant and contrasting colours?
Thats color theory for ya. And also cuz of the cell shading compared to gow the bg are painted
oh! thank you :D
but it seems even in anime where the characters are mostly cel shaded, they can blend in with 3D modelled backgrounds. Is this due to the colour aspect?
Like see how warm the shadows on the characters are and then how the bg r cooler in tone
ooohhh
