#how do I learn to draw
203 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
id say learn to break things down into simpler shapes or a way that makes snese to you. Most of what i sketch looks like gibberish to anyone else but the final product is born out of that. (Here’s an example)
If you can sketch it down in a way that makes sense to you and you’re confident with your strokes (pause) you should he aight
practice is a big part of it
I can only draw y2k and it’s only this
I also want to draw anime since it’s my dream but when I look up a tutorial they just explain and just doesn’t teach what to do just say the things and skip it
i get that, it took me months of studying just to feel comfortable at my current level. I studied anatomy for a while and learned to draw body parts indavidually before learning to proportion them together
here lemme put you onto someone

chommang doesnt speak english so if you watch this youll be reading subtitles
oh
but i watched him to kinda learn how to sketch bodies
Do you need to learn some special shapes
Just standard shapes, elipses and cylinders
elipses are circles and ovals 😭 and cylinders are really just 2 circles collected by 2 lines
No thats a cylinder
what is a oval then
Its js a longer looking circle
Ohhh
a circle that isnt perfectly round
mhm, heads, torso, pelvis thats what i use ovals for
when im mapping out the body through a rough sketch
Same
like this
Jujutsu kaisen
Form the other server
That I showed
In the first place
lie the
I love jjk
When I see YouTubers doing the tutorials they just skip the exercising
emotions? I havent heard anything like that. I guess if you wanted to express a characters emotions through like how they’re positioned
that could be what they meant?
I would start with the body before really worrying about the face
if you wanna draw anime characters
the only ding I don’t understand is
When you draw the face
You have to draw 2 lines
And when they finish it
The lines are gone on the face
Here
i think i know what you mean
they erase the guidelines after they finish drawing the face
nah the guidlines are just there so that you can draw the face proportions
Where the eyes go, the nose, etc.
not everyone can do that right away
Oh wait
Is it there
So they can make a shape for the head?
Like a perfect shape for the head?
yes and no. Its there so you can draw everything on the head like the face, ears, eyes.
oh
the face has certain proportions that you can map out with guidlines
Do I have to learn eyes to body’s to background or things or do I start from shapes and lines to eyes and faces?
- learn to draw basic shapes, circles, ovals (elipses), cylinders
- Learn Anatomy (Body Parts, how they’re shaped where certain muscles go, etc.)
- Figure out your own artstyle, how you want to draw certain things
- Backgrounds
i think this is the order you’re going for?
That’s perfect
I don’t need my own art style
I’ll just draw mangas
Like yuji
Sukuna
Gojo
alright, well i hope i helped you a little!
Maybe saitama if you know the anime
Alr thanks!
Try to learn basic shapes first! Because as an artist (for me) is to breakdown the parts so you could have a better understanding of the parts
ok
I don’t know where to start I promised to start drawing when I came back from school but I couldent bc of homework but I had time but I’m to lazy + when I draw shapes I get lost and in the anatomy I get lost Immediately
start with a refence image instead that way you wont get lost. Find a picture of someone striking a pose, or use a character from a manga
then break their pose down into basic shapes
real shit
What’s the easier character to draw for begginers
I’m to lazy
When I try to trace a manga character my phone is to small to even see the lines and anything I have a old iPad mini2 but it takes 5 hours to be 2% and idk what to do
i can see how that’d be a challege, i have a generation 8 ipad, its a decent size so i can do everything fairly easily
maybe dont draw digitally if your devices are too small
It did charge Its enoug to trace but the lighting doesn’t work I think it’s my paper being to thinn to make the art show
yooooo
have you ever heard of MFKZ?
nope
your art reminds me of it
It’s the only things I can draw
When I look up how to draw anatomy’s basics
Bro I get lost
it's a French-Japanese coproduction
dope-ass movie
anyways
anatomy is way too hard, start simple
maybe just try copying what you see, draw things you're interested in
I’m literaly going to give up I cannot even draw a literal hand
are you looking at your hand when you draw this?
just look at your hand and draw that, way easier than trying to magically make a hand appear on the paper
huh
That doesn’t make sense
o_O I mean
this is you trying to draw a hand right?
why not just try to look at your own hand and draw that first, instead of trying to construct one
like my real hand or?
to see what it looks like
like, I'm trying to think about how I can explain that looking at something to draw it is easier than just drawing it on your own, that's really simple logic
like
🤔
oh that doesn't work here
Isn’t that megumi
I just wanna draw like simple hands not realistic hands
let's say I ask you to draw Satoru Fujinuma from the anime Erased, right
you have no idea what this guy looks like
unless you've seen Erased, which would be cool
but I'm assuming you haven't seen Erased
imagine if I asked you to draw this character
erased ahh yes bros invisible
you'd have to go to google and look up a picture of him
drawing anything is like that, you can't really draw something unless you've either seen it, or you know so much about it that you can just recreate it in your head
how do people create their own characters then tho
Like
Gege akutami
The creator of jjk
Oh wait
I get it
But there’s just 1 thing
I get lost when I watch a tutorial
the answer is that Gege copied a ton of Bleach, Hunter x Hunter, and Evangelion
yea
if you get lost maybe there's something simpler you can do, like maybe boxes or cylinders, just really really basic shapes to get yourself started
so you aren't just drawing circles
People say this guy is good at teaching in reality this guy is confusing https://youtu.be/9m4Hf_6U4Rc?si=_vSyFjYQqJ7LLIK5

I watched half of the video
And I’m already lost
yeah this is pretty advanced stuff
this guy already knows how to draw simple stuff
simple simple
if you can't draw one of these
how are you gonna draw six of them
or, you can just copy arms from your favorite manga and anime
like all of the manga artists do
I tried drawing the first on
oke
And it made me lost
Yo
So your telling me I can copy his hands
yeah sure :T
yeah try it out 😛
@ivory kernel I drew these and I figured it out you don’t have to write the neck that long I’m getting used to it
