yea some brush settings are pretty demanding on ram, especially if you have multiple settings on at the same time. photoshop requires 2G atleast to run smoothly and if you have some apps running on the background as well it will compete with it and add on stress to the system, thus the freezing occur. I think your 2g ram is pretty outdated, it can work but it requires your bare minimum usage like using the lowest setting possible.

you can try adjusting some things. on your general settings - go to Performance tab. You will see History & Cache settting. You can lower the history states to 8, how much do you have it currently btw?? ( just to remind you, the number means the it's the limit of how far back you can undo. )

And while you have your custom brush selected for mixer brush, go to brush settings and adjust the spacing. If it's set to 1%, you can adjust it higher to maybe 10% or 15 % It will run smoothly the higher the percentage but the downside is that the pattern will spread out. So you might need to compensate and adjust maybe the scattering or dual brush if you have it on.

So likely it's probably best to upgrade my gpu? I can afford smth like an 8gb one but if I go any higher than that it gets too expensive so yeah :/ I usually need to have multiple things open for this one project I'm working on since it is what it is

plus i'd need a new power supply b/c mine is very small for wattage... and more fans

frankly i need an entirely new computer b/c this one is so old -.-

yes would probably be best to just upgrade or buy a new setup. that way you can do what you want and not be limited by your hardware.

is there any pointers i could recieve based on parts that would be compatable with my setup? if you know stuff abt that

8gb is pretty nice. I feel like that can handle multiple app usage. You buy that new gpu first if you want and once you get a new pc setup you can chuck it there for extra ram

ah alright, thank you anyways 😅 i believe my power supply might be able to handle 8gb but it's a evga supernova 650 g3 (only 649.2W) - i'll have to figure out how to calculate what parts take up what amount of wattage
