I just started Trying to draw but i have no idea how to start, someone gave me the tip to try to transform pictures of people in shapes so i can learn the basics to do my own bases and try to learn from that, but i always hear that is wrong? Thought here would be a good place to ask and if it is wrong or not something that would help me, what would be another good option?

Also i dont know why the quality of the time lapse sucks that much, sorry about that

I mean its good for studying and helping you see the shapes. But itll hinder you long term on creating your own poses and knowledge on anatomy.

It helps very early on to trace to get a feel for multiple body types and proportions. It also forces you to use shapes and volumes so that whenever you dont trace you have already a bit of an understanding how to build a human via those shapes.

Its good to start with. Continue after by replicating what you just drew with the reference/Pictures next to it and if you really want to challenge yourself, try to draw it from memory. Compare how the versions look, what you did wrong etc. remember it for the next new picture or next attempt of the same picture

Whenever you have a good feel for how to build a mannequin(Human) you can just skip the tracing and start straight with a sketch of the pose while the picture is next to it, or better on the second monitor, further away so it becomes harder to just straight copy it
