I’m trying for a bit of a moody scene where dio (dude on the left) is just standing in that dim light but the world is ominously hiding in the shadow behind. This is just a first sketch for proportions and layout and such but I feel like dio is a bit uncanny? I’m not sure what’s wrong so if a fresh pair of eyes could give some advice then that would be super please
#some general advice please

Ah ignore the pointing shadow
I’ve been going back and forth between having him arms crossed and pointing towards us
I think maybe there should be more weight on his left hip
So would be poking out to our right
A bit statue of david like yknow
A bit curvier
But again I can't tell
the arms are tapering in as they go down. Maybe make the elbows farther apart?
I think you may be right about the hip, but not by much. Maybe just enough to match the other side
Okay so I had a play around with bringing those arms out but because they were low and flat against his torso it looked more like he was having a tummy ache
Like that lin Manuel meme
So I ended up turning his whole torso to an angle so his groin sticks out a bit
A bit more theatrical and proud
What do you think?
Much better. This pose is so much more interesting, and the warm light illuminating his right side is creating an interesting contrast
Awesome
Thanks
If I paint this it’ll be a doomy midnight scene
So the midnight blues mixing with the light on the people and stone walls should play well I think
yeah that is a much better solution overall. Good job
