Any color as the base works. Its just an underpainting to show u if youve covered all spots yet and in the end makes ur work more cohesive

Also even if u mess up, its a part of the process. If ur too scared to mess up itll hinder you to succeed

Use full black for the base.

It fits well, but in the end, it is wholly your choice. Once it's lit, it'll look better.
