I’ve been trying to finish this piece for days, but somehow the faces keep falling off and the anatomy is not quite anatomy-ing.

Feel free to be brutally honest or draw over the bad parts. I’ve tried to use references, but I think there’s just something fundamentally wrong with the way I draw heads & hair, but I can’t figure out what exactly it is.

⬅️ left one is one of the first attempts of drawing it
⏺️ the middle one is the most recent attempt
➡️ right one is the initial sketch/idea (that is just serving as a “thumbnail”/very rough draft; no fixing needed on that one.

Just added this to give some insight, on what I was trying to go for.

Especially the faces. I can’t seem to position the eyes in a logical manner, despite “attempting” to use guidelines.

#

The faces still fall flat and it’s even more evident when the image is flipped

second attempt looks fine to me. it just looks flat because of how the expression is. its so close to being neutral. they dont look like theyre smiling and being happy. they give the energy of polite smile to a stranger on the street

exaggerate it more. look in the mirror and fake a smile. then do a real smile. your eyes would crinkle more, your eyebrows may even life up a bit, your smile will be wider
