#Email routing

yeah pretty much like I was doing some stuff idk (I’m not technical by any means) and now it’s not even routing to a regular account
I don’t even know what happened
but yeah I have routing set up
Very nice, so you're ahead of the curve. 🙂 Do you see delivery failures on the E-Mail Routing overview? Or are you suspecting you changed something and email routing isn't working at all?
Generally if you've changed any record, the overview should give you an error.
This is what it looks like
Nice. So, just to confirm, your email routing destination address is different than the address it looks like you're testing with?
I think your second screenshot confirmed it's different accounts
Yeah, I mean preferably I’d like the accounts to just receive emails in their regular accounts but it seems that how they were set up
Yeah 3 seperate accounts
Routed to the same email
On the Settings tab, does it it confirm to you that the routing status is enabled, records are configured and "MX records" are Locked?
Yeah
kk. So, if you wanted to delete the screenshots since they have "names" in the data, that is fine for me.
What we've just confirmed is you're not attempting to test from the same gmail account as the destination. The dashboard claims your mail was forwarded onto the Active/confirmed destination gmail accounts.
Um I mean when I created this like email address I guess that it was just set to routing so wait what are you saying
So, what I'm assuming is happening is, (you can search through the messages here and see it happens often). Email deliverability with email routing is sometimes hit or miss. Even with it showing delivered in the email routing portal. Sometimes gmail will discard it themselves without instantly returning a failure.
But everything you've shared, I would agree, Cloudflare shows it's forwarded and should have been delivered to the mailbox.
Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking, I’m so confused
One thing you could try if you're wanting to do something. You could always disable the email routing, wait, then re-enable it. (It wouldn't require you to validate the destination mailbox again -- that's already taken care of and can be shared acros sother domains).
But, I personally wouldn't do this -- it does not appear to be a setup issue, and the dns records appear good to me. (I also did a quick MXtoolbox.com look with the domain too, and it confirms that the records are setup).
Like just click on one of these?
You could, or you could remove email routing from the domain and do the setup/onboarding again (which, appears you did that correctly already).
would just making it where all of these email accounts receive the emails on their account fix the issue?
Yeah I’ve already tried doing that, should I just disable routing
Would that fix it
And just make it where they receive emails on their respective accs
I don't think so, I guess what I'm trying to say is. I think gmail is deffering deliver or silently discarding.
Just understand, when I send an email to you from me.com, it goes to CF Email routing, then there's that leg where CF tries to pass the message to gmail.
In this case the dash claims it's forwarded. I think if they aren't making it to your mailbox.. it's a gmail problem out of your control regardless of this CF setup... you just have to wait for google to begin accepting again).
Also, I feel silly asking this now instead of the first question. You did confirm you're not having these delivered to that gmail account's spam folder?
Yeah lol, I checked that already
haha, whew. I assumed you had.
Like I need these specific emails to receive said email like today so what do you think I should do
I mean I can make a whole new email address
Idk
So, if you did want to take a bias for action, and try something. If you have another mailbox at a different ESP. Like Proton free mail.
Add in a non-google hosted mailbox. Swap it into one of those accounts, then test again using gmail.
No, you can't do anything to get those messages back. Google has either deffered them, as in, they are being held in a google mail queue for processing? And google will deliver them later.
Or, most likely, google has silently discarded them and hasn't returned an error code to CF yet.
Ahh okay wa
Yea.. This will confirm or deny my assumption that CF is working, google is just doing funny businesses, and if you try test email again after changing out the destination mailbox.. they would deliver.
Also, I hope this is purely educational on your part. From one community member to another. 🙂
Yeah it is lol, well it’s for my mom she runs a homeschool so she needs this email account to be working fast for the start of the second semester
I tried the proton mail
And it works when I send emails from regular .com accounts but the email from the website in particular doesn’t work
The thing is it worked for one of the accounts, well used to
Back when I was using Gmail.com routing
Well, you can change it back to as you had it before. I don't think it's an issue with your mom's new domain that is extremely similar to an official government agency.
Also, if it's only ONE site. You should consider, that some companies will consider your domain's age in how it treats delivery to that domain.
Your domain isn't even 30 days old yet.
But, no disrespect. I'm not sure that I feel comfortable helping any further. Good luck with your mom's homeschooling business's email getting sorted out.
Alright thank you
