If the Black Tulips in the center actually work for Hydrangeas around it, I can just keep the tulips there forever, right? I don't think there would be a reason to change it for a black hydrangea

Basically until the cross all becomes the same visual color. At that point (especially after a few generations) it is unlikely to be able to produce black flowers and you would be better off starting fully fresh.

Oof... I set up that mainly because having black flowers as the parent allows a lot of things and I assume most people still have at least 1 still around. If you want you can do the short advanced section at the end. Where you basically just try to move the rare shaped flowers to the center. Then replace them based on rarity. It should still be quick to get back to a decent parent, just not as simple as growing from black flowers and waiting for the expensive one to appear.

Also you can technically rebuild black flowers from any seeds which had just pollinated off of a black flower (preferrably blue or purple quality).

So if you still have your seeds then you can easily rebuild it

no, black flowers will eventually produce black child flowers. Probably just unlucky as child flowers can keep rolling the 50% chance to keep their non recessive genes.

basically black flower is (ccddeeff all recessive). Child flowers take 1 allele from the parent (so always take recessive from black flower) so c_d_e_f_. Then they take 1 of their own: so if they were CcDdEeFf, then they have a 50% chance per letter to become fully recessive and a 50% chance to keep their dominant.

Once they become fully recessive they can't go back to dominant as both the parent (black flower) and themselves are recessive in that gene.

But they can theoretically keep rolling the 50% to keep their dominant gene forever...

I can’t understand any of it. They should ALL be interacting items. It’s not like it is without the realm of possibility…many other games let you interact with furniture. Chairs are for sitting, beds for lying, and so forth. I was very disappointed when I realized this about homestead furniture. If that weren't possible then it would be a long grind for smelting mats for stuff like metal bars and rings/rivets

best way is to not really use it. Flowers can pollinate naturally by being around a fully grown/other flowers planted around the same time. Manual pollination can only be done by roommates, and must be applied in the last 30min (for tulips) growth cycle.

those are light blue, but yes. If they all arrive at the same color (especially after a few generations) then its unlikely they will ever produce a black flower so recommended to just completely start fresh.

with black in the center, you never speed up child flowers by destroying them. Best case you replace it with the same seed, worst case you reset 1 gene back to dominant.

The only time to reset flowers is when you know that it will never reach its end goal. With a black flower parent, it will always reach its goal, just might take several (or theoretically infinite) generations.

Before you trash it if it has been that long, relocate it to a different group of tulips, and try to breed those together, it might have some of the proper genes

purple flower centers only have ~50% chance at being able to produce black flowers. Its likely that you have a Dominant/Dominant last gene in the center flowers (thus can never produce black flowers). You will probably have to restart.

Cuz you need to recycle the outer ones when you get the entire cross of the same color. After a few times (with recycling) if its still the same, change the middle flower. I had to switch 2 times, both purple and light blue always gave same color crosses. I started then with a white tulip (blue rarity) then upgraded to purple rarity and only then started getting black ones

Or you can introduce fresh flowers and make a new purple rarity flower with recessive genes needed by the current flowers you have

The red tulips have 4+ dominant genes so best to replace. Pink, yellow, gold and pale white have 3+.

Green have only 2+ so you should put those in the center for now I think.

Limestone will get you Limestone + Limpid Azure Water to rank Gemcraft and Alum to rank Weaving.

Branch Cluster will get you Resin to use with Alum and a mob drop from low lvl boars near Scout Outpost in the Asteria Plains to rank Weaving and Twigs to use with Limpid Azure Water to rank Gemcraft.

Artisanry can't be gathered for in terms of non-focus crafts. You can use Resin to make Gem Wax with focus for levels.

There's no place you can reach two Limestone at once, but Branch Clusters can be reached four at a time.
