So i was restoring my moms old ipod and i first had gotten just the iflash solo and battery. Before replacing any of these i tried booting it up and it originally had the sad face. I thought it was maybe battery. i left it charging and it still didnt boot. So thats when i got the iflash and battery and replaced those. STILL nothing boots and it continues to show the sad face. i can tell the sd card is reading as its showing 96ish gb. I thought it was the hdd connector as it still had the original, so i got the iflash one and still the sad face. Ive been stuck like this for a week and im unsure of what to do🥹

There's something wrong with your hdd I'd re format it personally
re format it in what sense?
fat32
get all of those sd cards
reformat to fat32
ive reformated the sd card that im using to fat32
nothing happened
it still boots up to the same sad face
and i doible checked to make sure it was fat32
That's all I got then
alright 💔💔
Maybe replace the HDD cable itself. Theyre cheap on Amazon and even cheaper on iflash
I see no description of "recovery" - did you connect it to iTunes and tried recovery process? Only after recovery iPod will have operating system to boot into. With empty card there is only bootloader that can do the diags, enter disk mode or tray to find the operating system on the card/drive and boot it or... freak out with sad face.
i tried on my laptop and pc to connect the ipod to itunes and it would not register on either device, i dont have any mac that i am able to plug it into
are you sure you did it in disk mode?
