it gets this far on the ribbon cable and gets stuck and will not move further

i've tried seating it with a toothpick using a reasonable amount of force and it just won't go in

this ribbon cable fits other drives just fine i'm only having a problem with this specific board

it seems to not wanna come out of its connector on the board and i'm not about to force that lest it breaks
