So I have found an old 4th gen mono a year ago. It worked fine without any intervention, and so I began to use it. Then after reseting it, the ipod just crashed, and it wouldn't turn on without displaying the error message. I replace the Hard Drive with another Ipod 4th gen one, still get the same cycle of booting, error, then repeat. I've recently replaced the battery, and still have the same issues. My laptop doesn't recognize it/show in the directory. It does show the charging screen when plugged into my laptop, but doesn't when plugged into a wall socket. Any ideas because I really don't know what the issue could be.

probably an issue with the motherboard.
How can you tell difference between hard drive issues and motherboard? It sounds like they have the same error screen.
