My Ipod had been having some issues. It started off like only charging to like 50% then stopping, then all the sudden it had just died. So i decided to open it up to see if there was any visual problems. when i had opened it up this little thing just fell out. Im not even sure what it is or what i does or if it is even the problem itself. Just if anyone knows what it is and how to fix it please let me know!! thank you!!

Yeah that is probably the issue. It is an inductor. It will need to be soldered back on. If the solder pads have been ripped from the board then this will be extremely difficult, probably not worth the effort to repair.
What is a solder pad? I can at least try to fix it I have a friend with a soldering iron and he can attempt to fix it or is it worth just buying a new mother board
The solder pad is the metal contact on the the board that the inductor was soldered to. Probably worth it to just buy a new board.
Cool cool thank you for your help
Ok here is a photo I took of where the indicator fell off (sorry it's upside down I took this photo the other day but I am not home right now) is the soldering pad missing?
I can’t really tell for sure, but it looks like the pads may still be on there
