Watch Dpei's TFT fundamental videos on youtube.
Check tftflow or tftacademy. Not to copy, but to understand. It shows ideal units/positioning/items. But you can change things around as needed in game, dont have to flow the guides exactly.
the general must haves:
3 item tank
3 item carry
anti heal
pen - based on main carry damage type (anti-mr or anti-armor)
traits for ur carry and tank active
Think about what stats the unit wants, and not specific items in most cases. Outliers like Rageblade on AP kaisa or IE for Yunara do exist. its hard to copy guides 1 to 1 because each tft game progresses differently.
Vod specific notes:
- Early game, keep units together so you focus your dps to kill units
- opened item anvils but picked wrong items. Dclaw early game is normally bad. (early game its mostly physical dmg vs magic dmg)
- could make sunfire at 2-5, but didnt
- ended up making nashors anyways, which was available early game
- used ori as item holder instead of kog/cait, ideally kog. would also allow to make econ
- mid game, ap item holders were not used (e.g. ahri)
- Asol wants to on board at 4-1, ended up getting it at 4-3
- Wrong asol items - should be shojin nashor deathcap
- asol wants to be positioned in the back middle (to hit more units)
Main way to avoid these mistakes is to read about the comp (ideally before playing it, but at least after picking the augment at 3-2 in asol pivot case)
Highly recommend looking at the dmg chart after everyfight. then you evaluate if the unit that ur items are on is being useful or not. Compare Orianna vs kogmaw dmg. Also, technically cait did the most dmg, but her dmg is mainly burst dmg and has overkill. DPS is normally more important than burst. But item on cait or kog wouldve been fine.
