Hi all, June 5th, we're starting closed alpha testing of the spavn-analyzer aka new VLS.

Language Server is a tool that adds various IDE features to code editors (VS Code, Vim, Emacs, Helix) such as autocompletion, jump to definition, and more.

The new VLS has only been under development for a month, so I plan to have only about 10 people participating in the alpha test. That way we can fix most of the bugs before most people try it. Please be patient, the closed alpha test will only last for a month and then we will start the open beta test for everyone!

Who am I looking for?

  • You write quite a lot in V
  • You are willing to provide feedback/bug reports and sometimes take the time to answer additional questions about the bugs

How can I join?

Email me at [email protected] with the subject "spavn-analyzer alpha test" and a brief description of the V projects you are working on. Please also add the OS. I will send you all further instructions by mail.

When is the beta version going to be released to the public?

I plan to release the beta version on July 3, 2023.

How can I help other way?

So far, no way. ๐Ÿ™‚

Why is the name spavn-analyzer?

Do you really think VLS will survive?

#

On the other hand: what does spavn-analyzer even mean?

#

does it analyzes spawnpoints in minecraft? ๐Ÿ˜„

But it has nothing to do with concurrency in first place?!?

Call it vls2 or whatever makes sense ๐Ÿ˜„

to me at least the name is confusing ๐Ÿ˜„

It's just a name. Like Mac's current OS is "Ventura" - what does that have to do with computers?

#

nope ๐Ÿ™‚

so how much spavn-analyzer form vls?
should vls user switch or vls will still be maintained?

brazen nimbus
#

it's too early to talk about it now, since we haven't even started the closed alpha test. Perhaps the author of the VLS will return to development, but most likely the VLS will be archived

I see, I'm very excited to see what spavn-analyzer will offer. Hopefully it's available on nvim mason, so we have an easy switch over. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hopefully, before the release of the beta, we will conduct a survey on what editors and plugins for them we want to support

#

currently in my editor list:

  • VS Code
  • Vim / Nvim
  • Emacs
  • Helix
  • Sublime Text 4

I don't get that question.
Is it: Would you like to switch to another IDE that HAS language support because of reasons like IDEA is bad?
Or is it: Would you like to switch to another IDE if it WOULD have language support?

#

It sounds like the question tries to ask if the InelliJ plugin is bad ๐Ÿ˜„

I would switch to something else if it wasn't vscode, supported what I use in IDEA, also supported debugging, and was free. Instead of having to pay for IDEA to get the integrated debugging.
