I have this issue too, mis-information is all over the web about this. Wiki pages and all sources.
guessing the devs didnt think there's be any other undead pets beside the necro ones lol
Devs didn't know.. WHAT they put that in the game, and the wiki is has been there for years.. IM CONFUSED
I mean its pretty obvious -- it would be OP so we don't allow it. We've talked about this in other threads where I said I was thinking about changing this, but I decided nah. The only way to make it work would be to make AH buffs NOT work on them, which would suck for other reasons. Maybe in the future after other revisions, but not in the current game.
How about Necro abilities would only affect it 50% since its a hybrid? Would it be still too OP? How about 25%? Hell, even 10% would sound nice 🥹
I feel like just nerfing the ever living shit out of the pet to allow this makes a lot of sense
(I mean hell, AH could use the bat across the forehead for every special pet if we're being honest)
But having cross skill synergy is the name of the game for builds, is it not? Plus it would just be a lot of fun to build for...
That's going to result in either a) a really long tooltip or b) a new thread sometime later of someone wondering why their skills say one thing, but their pet is only getting a fraction of it. It would be hard to convey to the player.
a) Tooltip tip: "Undead Animal Handler pets receive [insert amount]% of Necromancer abilities" - I dont think it would be too long or complicated - though I'm not sure how complicated would it be to implement this whole solution, maybe it's not that straightforward
b) If that tooltip confuses the player then they are on for a wild ride with this game
