#VIP - too many benefits

VIP, to my knowledge, currently gives:
-4 character slots
-about 12 transfer chest, inventory AND saddlebag slots
-a monthly pet and title
-a reward that was 5 glamours this month from what i remember/seen
-access to Autodidacticism

I really do believe that all types of storage and character slots would make the game just better if they were in the base game

Supporting the game should come first not benefits via VIP really
Having this much stuff makes me want to pay for VIP just cuz of the benefits and i doubt im the only 1 who would start enjoying the game a lot less if they stopped payin for VIP BECAUSE of the slots

character slots could be left untouched for VIP even and just give 2 slots base

vip is fine. rather have subscription tbh than all those freemium scam mmos out there. I mean if you are playing a lot of hours per month , 9$-10$ shouldnt matter anyway

i think this is a valid complaint. honestly i would still pay for VIP even if it only did a fraction of what it actually does

just a heads up, on paper Autodidactism sounds really powerful, but it actually gives you a comically minuscule amount of xp, like we're talking a week long hangout gives you the amount of xp you'd get in like 20 minutes of actually playing.

#

having had VIP on and off for a few years, the transfer chest slots are really the most impactful thing to me, personally. the rest of it is nice but not a must have. however this is only my personal opinion

#

when i don't have VIP active, the lack of transfer chest slots is really the only thing i miss

Citan used to charge 40 for the game, with 4 slots.
Then he split slots off to an added benefit for 20.00 and reduced cost.
Asking to have the reduced cost, but more slots is just saying "I want something for free."

People pay to support the game, which benefits everyone in the long run.

what is "too much" and what is "enough" is, at the end of the day, subjective. so if, for instance, all benefits except one were removed from VIP, there would still be people who are unhappy. but i do think it's worth being vigilant about predatory monetization in games. i just don't think project gorgon is one of those. yes, ANY amount of spending money on a game to gain some benefit is considered unacceptable to some, but in my opinion, having played actively both with and without VIP, the things you get from VIP are very much in the "nice, but absolutely not a must-have" category so i think it's fine.

but again, this is only my opinion so other people can certainly disagree

Vest, what do you think should the VIP benefits be instead of the ones that currently are? I also agree that VIP is fine the way it is at this moment.

early on, the inventory struggle is such a big part of the game, i can totally understand that.

once you have been playing for a while, +12 slots is not as big a deal as it sounds, but for a starting character it would be a big deal.

I dont mean to be confrontational, but this is a suggestion forum. It would be nice to offer an alternative instead of simply saying "oh this is bad, change it"

The biggest misconception is about what VIP and community support pay for.
-It funded the game during a decade of development and through the terrible ordeal of Srand's illness and death.
-It's paying for future development, new graphics, new zones, and other content for the game.
-It will provide the funds for new servers.

All players benefit from this.

You're only looking at what VIP players get, and not considering the larger picture of what keeps the game running and growing. Two years ago, this game was heading to caretaker mode and never being finished. Part of the reason we are here now was the financial support of the community to help Citan finish and get us to the point where it can grow further.

I think an underappreciated aspect of this debate is that having only one character is fine. It's literally not an issue. I never had a second character for the first 800 hours I played. Only reason I made a second character is cause I took a years long break and had no idea how anything worked, so I figured the easiest way would be to just start from scratch until I felt like I remembered what the hell was going on. And even now, even though I have an alt, I almost never log on to them. Sometimes if I'm hurting for glowies I'll jump on them to do a quick run, but that's about it. With other MMOs it's important to have multiple character slots because you want to be able to try out all the various play styles without losing progress by deleting and restarting. That just doesnt matter here. I think the only exception to that is if you want to make a fairy, you're either gonna need to have VIP or buy the 20 dollar DLC for more slots. But at that point you're IN the game. A fairy character isn't something to just do on a whim.

#

as far as the inventory stuff goes, I see the criticism. It's definitely the thing that tipped me over into buying VIP, and makes a huge difference in gameplay. But all in all the game needs to make money, and that's a pretty low stakes way of doing it. Do I love it? no. Do I care all that much? also no.

same here, i made a second character when Druid first came out back in 2014, because it was new and we didn't know how arduous the drawbacks would be (in the end, really not that bad) so i didn't want to commit to my primary character being a druid in case i didn't like it long term

#

this being the kind of game where you can do everything on one character, you really don't need multiple characters. and if you do want multiple characters, the $20 "3 extra character slots" DLC exists!

#

nowadays, we have detailed info and player testimonials for what each permanent status effect (lycanthropy, druid, vampire) are like to play as, as well as the not-so-permanent long term things like animal forms, so it's much easier to gauge whether you want to play as one rather than having to take the plunge in order to find out

I'd rather keep my VIP and continue supporting the game. 12 slots isnt a huge deal now, but when I started playing I think we started with like 8 slots, and the 12 was a godsend. Now you want to take them away? Out of jealousy or something? There is a ridiculous amount of storage now. How about they take away the serb storage box and and add 12 slots to the base game instead. Then you will see how trivial the 12 slots are.

my only gripe with it is the bonus invintory slots. I really feel like having a more limited inventory just lessens the enjoyment for non VIP players.

#

I'm not sure about storage as I am a new players but in the 8 hours I have spent in the game so far it has been really anoying managing my invintory and only having like 20 slots of storage at the inn

grim quiver
#

you can gain waaaaayyyyy more storage through gameplay than you ever could through VIP. if you are interested, all this info is gathered into one spot on the wiki about storage: https://wiki.projectgorgon.com/wiki/Storage

there's tons of gear that gives you way more inventory, but i'm not as well versed in this.

grim quiver
#

if you really want huge inventory, look into getting a horse + saddlebag (horses can be easily acquired through exploration, saddlebags can be purchased or traded for from other players), and something called "pocket gear," armor with some sort of crafting thing that causes it to give you more inventory.

i was able to fairly easily acquire all of this through my guild. if you aren't one for interacting with other people, there are NPCs whose buy-used tabs you can find horse gear in from players selling old gear to them

making them base game is the deal since they are too big earlygame in my op

#

i am currently using vip i likely wont stop if those are gone but instead look at it as a optional thing early on rather than - this is huge

this may change when i am more experienced in the game or rather just give a new character gear cuz i can... but this does not help another player who cant/doesn't want to make or just buy/ask for gear

#

this is the question with anything that is meant to support the game
do you want this because it benefits you first or because it benefits the development of content and keeps the game alive?

i kind of just hope the vip system will eventually add enough to take away and put into base game instead

#

my op is that it already has that even

You are contradicting yourself and I have no idea what you are saying anymore. If you want more storage DO THE WORK, unlock all that storage, learn how to get pockets, upgrade your saddle bag.

As for whether we do it for the stuff or to support the game, you should learn more about this community. When the game was in immenant danger of dying, the community gathered in Serb and started buying VIP, packages and donating lump sums and watching the tally while we danced and raised enough to keep it afloat. Because we wanted to save it. So yes, we support the game AND ourselves because we love our game.

Its worth noting that no matter how much storage space you have you will struggle and be frustrated by not having enough storage

#

And in fact, Id venture that it being difficult in the early game is actually good game design. Because it trains you on what to expect for the rest of the game

#

My first time, i was like "oh joeh likes bacon?" And immediately went and learned how to butcher and how to start cooking

#

Which made me familiar with the gift giving system, the butchering/skinning mechanics, and favor

#

As well as setting my expectations for the rest of the game

#

Also if you need pocket gear, ask in global! A lot of vets would be happy to help you out

#

(Which is also a good game design, because they want this to be a community. And how better to train newbies to ask for help)

#

Every other mmo ive ever played i started antisocial and uninterested in dipping my toes into the swamp water that was global chat. Certainly my own prejudices were a big part of that, but also plenty of bad experiences. Having something that pushed me to ask for help is what made me realize that this is a good game to ask for help in

nerf the game or vip - currently vip nerfs the game in my eyes
id rather the game be better than vip being better

BUT true in a way it does bother me to a bigger extent than others for a multitude of reasons
including paying for a limited amount of time VIP that once gone will make the game feel at least slightly worse, especially for a new player entirely - not a new character since i can just give it stuff that i can make later in the game myself

i would ask for gear but i feel like it would take away from doing the craft at all for me

"id rather the game be better than vip being better"

VIP is paying for the game to be better.
