Dump your QOL experiences or things you wish was better optimized that would contribute to your gameplay experience here!

Please note this is not primarily a suggestion thread, merely a place to discuss frustrating interactions that you've had in game ALTHOUGH you can definitely put input on how you think something could be changed to better your player experience.

#

I'm unsure if icons will change in the future but a QOL change I hope will be out at some point are certain items no longer sharing the same icon. An example would be dandelions and poppy seeds or bluebells and wolfsbane. There may or may not have been a moment where I tried to sniff a wolfsbane instead of a bluebell since I happened to keep them in the same chest apparently.

Numlock and Caps Lock are the two worst keys on the whole keyboard to have as default binds for anything.

snow otter
#

The same could be said for angling, apparently you need to memorize the "patterns" each fish uses and I've tried but it's hard unless you write them down and even then I still get it wrong since I'm relying on my own "descriptor" for the visual cue that I'm seeing. Some fish recycle the same icon but have seemingly different actions to reel them in(at least what I think was happening). It was very confusing and made it hard for me to continue angling although I'm sure other players may still find joy in leveling angling.

Unrelated to that: I remember one of the first things I did in this game was make a new chat tab that was basically "All, but no system messages or NPC chatter." Because I like seeing all the chat windows while also not having my chat flooded with non-player messages. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Not being able to disable other people's floaty damage numbers is my biggest pet peeve currently.

#

Its difficult to see if I'm actually doing any damage without it but when you're in a party it's just a mess of numbers

spark sorrel
#

A toggle to hide non-grouped player models. Aion had this with the default of shift+f12, and it was great on older systems to eke out a bit more performance in crowded areas or even just to reduce visual clutter (I'm aware about /particlespam, which is great, this just takes it up a notch)

Bump "Favorite" recipes to first line, and "All" recipes next. This way, when you log in, you don't have to select favorites.
Every.
Single.

Ooh, on that note - and something tells me this is on my end - I have to check "hide known" and "hide unusable" every time I log in. If they stayed checked it would be fantastic

I would love to set recipe defaults or;
Have recipes with optional ingredients automatically populate said recipe with the most recent ingredients you used

I'm thinking about heart's home teleport as I type this, would be nice to not have to refill the blue gem ingredient slot each time I use it

Would be cool if special abilities had sub skill tabs for all the types of stuff in there. Like a first aid tab for all the first aid special abilities etc. going through a huge list or typing what I need all the time kinda sucks.

Agreed, it's so unorganized and a pain to search through, especially with the skills from various gear pieces

The left hand side of the Recipes window is too narrow for the verbosity of each recipe name.
eg I see “Ice Magic Research Level…”
resulting in my having to click through to find the one I want.
It’s bad for many others:
eg
all of Fire Magic & Weather Witching is truncated.
I have 2 “Potent Acidic Cleanser (…“ items,
2 “Shoddy Leather Leggings…”

Please remove the width restriction on the left column - can shrink it, but not expand beyond a certain point, regardless of how wide the entire window is.

Crafting UI:
1: Checkbox for 'favorites on top' so you don't have to scroll down to find your starred recipes while keeping the normal sorting options available.

2: Allow for typing the name of a crafting skill in the dropdown box to avoid scrolling down to find what you need to get to.

Enemy nameplates:
Add customize option for a targeted enemy name/nameplate. I'm struggling to visually identify what enemy I have targeted when there are many. Mouse-over enemy shows arrows on both ends of their name (maybe that is a mouse-over cast feature), I would like something like this for targeted.

Customised name/nameplate options for if an enemy has me targeted (maybe anatomy requirement applies) to be able to better distinguish what enemy I need to taunt more or less.

Increase camera zoom speed -
Overall, when tanking, I find enemies to be slow to respond to my movement and I find myself in less than ideal positions to LOS enemies to group them up - backed into a wall or corner and cannot see beyond the enemy directly in front of me. I can't see when new patrol or alerted enemies arrive, or see who the enemy has targeted without constantly tabbing through them. Turning the camera around to face my front is the only way to see what's going on, but in the moment it is quite slow.

Great feedback and suggestions i have been thinking of a few things i'll post here too very niceee

#

I'd like an option to make special targets (i forget what it's called in other games) that as a healer I can have their health bar off to the side if they're not in my party. With the rise of pet tanks and zergs, it's quite frustrating trying to target people that are getting hit that aren't in my party and having the special target hitbar would help.

Would be really nice to filter the Skills & Abilities (left-side) list to just Combat Skills.

Sort by level would be an acceptable alternative, if easier, but much prefer the filter.

Im going to suggest a few things in particular that i think need to be looked at

  1. Mount a horse default command is alt + num lock(?)

Make it something more accessible, right now im using (shift + W) - And even tho that shortcut can be changed to whatever i think it should be in a more accessible command from default game installation.

  1. Target next non combatant + use keys need to be in accessible keys from default installation. Even tho you can change the keys to whatever you like i have found players that for the majority of their gameplay did not know they could do this and improve the quality of gameplay by targeting/interacting everything with a reduced effort.

My current command keys are "E" for use and "Q" for target next non-combatant and removed the keys for turning from Q and E, having to click to interact can be really tedious.

  1. Organize UI in a more pleasing and intuitive way as default configuration. Despite the fact players can configure the UI however they see fit i consider its important to have a nicer UI configuration specially for the new players experiencing the game.

(ill try to attach both UI pre-player setup and post-player setup to see the differences)

  1. Add shortcut keys for commanding pets Having to click on pet interface to tell pets how to behave is really tedious, you can get used to mouse clicking but it adds a layer of unnecessary annoyance.

These can be problematics that mostly affect new players and solo/casual players that don't have the guidance from experienced players

When you get a new quest i wish there was a "track" button. It's easy to untrack quests by right clicking. To track you either have to have a setting checked to auto track new quests and then manually untrack the ones you don't want or open up the quests window, scroll to the one you want, and manually track it

simple crypt

Have the update notification (eg quest 3/10) be clickable would be really nice - eg take you to the quest.

horse tack should not be included in loadouts, or should be a separate menu somehow

gaunt vault
#

why?

verbal tendon
#

There's basically no reason to have different tack on different loadouts, and it's annoying having to re-equip it when you switch up your loadouts. Agree

gaunt vault
#

oh. my horse is just always there so he and his gear are just ON all my loadouts

verbal tendon

When you upgrade a piece of tack you have to go through and re-equip it in each of your loadouts, sometimes when you make a fully new loadout they get lost, etc. Just a bunch of mild annoyances for no benefit

I guess would be a good accessibility buff too, to be able tilt and turn the camera with the keyboard. Right now you can left click and move the camera around your toon, but there are no keyboard binds for this.

It would be great to be able to bind the arrow keys to tilt camera up/down, rotate camera left/right (without moving the toon, WASD to move so two hands are on the keyboard)

Currently navigating the map without the mouse causes really bad camera angles and even clipping the terrain when going up hills, also you can't look to the side or behind you without changing direction like those using the mouse while navigating can do.

My setup is "as much keyboard as possible" as having my hand on the mouse a lot causes shoulder pain.

Sometimes looted augments have names like "Augment of Swordsmanship" and sometimes they just show up as "Glove Augment". I assume there's some technical reason but it would be nice if it was always the former so we didn't have to stop and mouse over to check what it actually is when looting

A more standardized naming [slot] augment of [skill/whatever] would be nice. It's impossible to really search for them.

Being able to custom name my own gear (both for meme and for being able to organize sets and keep them straight in storage)

#

Also having my minimap remember the zoom settings from the last time I was in the area

visual forge
#

improved storaging-labeling for sets in banks. Pressing auto-sort command can ruin how you organize your sets, its very annoying to look piece by piece to try and stablish the order in which items are saved, one time is fine, twice is ok. Doing it consistently over time with different sets for trying-leveling-using different builds can be very tedious storage micro-management.

Lighting improvements, generally. And an option to disable the lightning flashes, so my partner isn't too afraid to play the game anymore (epileptic).

Probably been said before, but being able to customize our mouse cursor (even if it's only its color). I've seen many people ask for it and I agree with them, it gets difficult to find it sometimes, I can only imagine how it's like for those with sight issues

rename all augments to the skill/effect related, right now its impossible to look for them using json exported files and manually looking for specific augments implies hovering the mouse on each of the augment to see what it does. Also i know its intended for saving augments to be annoying, so it encourages the exploration of the world/items consumption.

But it would be really nice if there was a middle ground, add a "way" to store a full set of augments (for a full set of equipemnt) or something similar, so insead of each augment taking 1 slot, let other classes idk carpentry or engineering to be able to craft an item to store them more efficiently. It would help with the already time consuming exercise for the planning and making of builds

The loot system should not be restricted to whoever aggros the enemy first. Its silly that an MMO would work this way and defeats really any purpose to group play with randoms. It should be individual loot for all who attacked the enemy and reserve the right of skinning, butchering, etc to whoever aggroed first

desert tusk
#

The game isn't 'hardcore', it's old school. Quality of Life improvements are typically tweaks to make the useability of the game better, not alter the gameplay itself. Asking for QoL isn't asking for the game to be made 'less harderer plis'. :)

There need to be an option to make the combat numbers setting only show the damage YOU deal to enemies. It's current iteration where it shows the damage dealt by EVERY player basically makes the feature useless if more than 1 player is fighting the same mob as you, as well as spamming your screen with numbers whenever someone is fighting stuf within your view.

The ability to toggle 'double click to use' from the settings gear on the inventory window.

Hiding the portrait circle next to the health bar when you disable portraits in settings

A warp button for summons to deal with their horrible allergy to the Z-axis (ex Ice Cave drop downs).

Stop desummoning pets when you get on your horse.

Some immobile pets should be immune to knock back (ex: health sanctuary and firewall)

A way to hide cosmetic pets so you don't have to see/hear them.

A way to mute howling from the spit drinkers

it could be a sidebar skill called "telling people what to do." starts with "kill this guy first" and it puts a skull icon above them. level up to get "follow this guy" to mark the leader of the group so people actually follow them, next is "leave this one alone" for crowd control, etc. at high levels in the skill, your kill target takes more damage and such so that it is actually used and provides good utility
