Our first 4 cantos.
Namely Greg, Rodion, Sinclair and Yi Sang, each of their canto conclusions are the first creations of a different feeling.
Greg coming from a story of absolute acceptance of the world and thus if his book version ended with realization that his coping was crushed then his continued journey with the sinners builds up the family that he lacks.

Rodion is another one of absolute acceptance of life (I still don't really understand Crime and Punishment) except that she's constantly fighting her guilt and desire to set up the initiative in situations. She gets her views challenged by Sonya at the end of her canto and the rest of the journey is her personal flip flop of being the most emotionally reliable sinner and being hella anxious

Sinclair coming from a coming of age story as well as his conclusion of finding strength gives him the freedom to grow that newfound strength in the rest of the cantos(namely his funny friendship with Ryoshu)

And Yi Sang quite simply is striking his will to live back on
