My only gripe is that birdknights is impossible with 4 of my carries being over 20 cost

gnosis is actually really based in chapter 12
and I mean in practice, not in statistics
my literal carry unit for 90% of the maps

yeah birds have almost nothing in terms of blocking 
my strategy for that was actually really easy
I just used yato and deleted the road block attacking enemies
while stalling the boss
I had to use ling to stall the boss going to the road block
Funnily enough, Astesia has the second highest def of all birds

The fact her s2 works while blocking is actually a godsend

2 lanes, same drones, each side spawns those civ unblock guys
My hardest challenge was nuking the unblock guys because they stand at spawn for so long

and when i forgot to break that box when they spawns, the civ will just walk by and then ennnggghh -1 hp

Not like you really need to redeploy Ines on S2. You can just plop her down somewhere and have her mulch weak enemies, then retreat her when she isn’t needed anymore
I've been using s3 more in chap 12 stages so far
S3 needs a lot of planning to get the most out of it though (IMO)

Okay, honest question: how the FUQ are you supposed to clear 7-18? I tried to follow 12 different "guide" videos on how to clear this stage and literally not a single one of them work

I manage to kill the boss once but after that its complete chaos
Incoming he replaced 90% of units, don't follow exact mine timing making them explode on normal enemies etc etc

honestly following mine placements is really annoying when watching guides

So the one thing that..uh...worked the "best" so far is this one. I put Myrtle in a corner to gather energy. Siege and Lapland stall the enemies coming from the right while Blaze protects the left exit. Then I put Schwarz + Healer in the right corner, where the boss usually takes a small break, together with two mines to nuke him down

You literally press Amiya S3 when boss in range and win 
after you nuke the boss, you can consider redeploying Schwarz + healer to setup elsewhere
Blaze should pretty much hold everything
other than the boss
Just mind that boss phase 2 will have throw spear at further most ranged operator
feel like you don't need W and Rosmontis together since they kinda overlap and the boss is stun-immune anyways
maybe replace one with either a support like Suzuran/Ethan, or an immortal like Surtr/Specter
something that isn't mandatory for this but is good to know: upgrading modules is a lot cheaper and a lot more gains than leveling from 60 to 90, for example Schwarz' X module makes her redeploy faster which is really convenient
btw if you have a shifter (Gladiia best) or phalanx caster, those can tank multiple spear throws in phase 2 I believe
You aware upgrading module give like +10 ATK while asking for T4/T5 materials, right? 
although, I think your levels are high enough that with the right setup you shouldn't need to tank any spear throws
the +10 ATK is already more cost efficient than levels, I did the calcs
even if the passive is garbage
more specifically, module 1 is always worth more than levels from stat gains alone regardless of passive; levels 2 and 3 give minor stat gains so the passive matters

are the mortar dudes perhaps killing your ranged ops?
if so, placing a Defender (last in deploy order) to bait them in a corner works well
2nd phase is squishier tho, so use ur range advantage to kill him quickly
do you have Ethan, Suzuran, or another source of slow/bind?
2nd phase doesn't hit as hard as 1st phase in melee range, so you can actually somewhat tank it with a blocker, but a slower/binder could allow you to simply kill him without blocking at all
I do have Suzuran
in that case you can try using Suzuran S3 to keep Patriot in place during S2 while Amiya/Schwarz/whoever nukes
make sure Suzuran doesn't die to a spear throw

when a unit has this under them. it's a big power boost on units especially six stars but expensive. once you have an e2 unit you are able to borrow friend units for a big power level boost
