I'm not disagreeing that doing single pulls would be maximally efficient if you're focused on conserving as much Orundum as possible.

But Arknights is an extremely generous gacha game in terms of how many resources it gives you for free (3 pulls a week via Annihilation, 2 pulls via daily and weekly rewards) and in terms of the rate at which it doles out its max rarity characters. I'm curious which gacha games you're referring to as being so generous that Arknights seems hardcore, because the others that I've played (FGO, Genshin, MMXD) were way worse in terms of rates, free currency given to the player, or in requiring you to spend resources on either supplemental banners (weapons) or dupes of characters.
