I'm already "engaging" with the mechanic. I'm just irritated with the absolutely insane levels of elemental damage going on plus the fact that if the fireworks aren't on the enemies are invisible.

yeah the invisibility part is ass but you cant call it poorly designed when you are doing the stage that teaches you how a core part of the mechanic works. also the elemental damage in this stage in particular is fine since your units shouldnt die anyway. the elemental damage is kinda annoying later tho

they only throw so much burn damage at your ops in PV-9 so you cant brute force it, to be blunt it feels poorly designed because you’re focusing on the wrong aspects of it
you might understand that fireworks make your ops invincible and balloons extend firework duration, but you might not have put two and two together yet that if you just kill all the balloons to make the fireworks last forever the same burn damage you were just complaining about becomes irrelevant
idk if that makes sense, your ops can be dead for the entire stage and it doesn’t matter

If you understand the mechanics then setting up a dedicated archer like kroosalt for the balloons and using the “increased attack speed at low hp” augment will allow you to sweep the stage. Don’t think it’s poorly designed just designed differently compared to the other stages. Designed for you to take advantage of the situation when choosing the right buff which you will choose if you understand the event

The fuse takes forever to light and cannot be sped up. There's no brute-forcing it going on here. I can't even stop the stealthy shitters from leaking. Detection is paramount but I only have two units who can detect, one of which costs 20 DP and the other only has one block. I don't know what the game expects me to do but it sure as hell isn't being free with answers.
