I don't see the problem with Thorns and Logos afk skill, hell if Thorns wasn't a mael i wouldn't mind bringing her since the range is very convenient. AFK is purely a general content usage, while sure Thorns isn't the best anymore, he is still pretty good for AFK because most shit in general content will still die to Thorns.

At certain point in the game you will value AFK more since majority of the game is just farming, so the ability to just leave the screen after placing some units is certainly be valuable since it allows you to do other things while waiting than wasting time using skills on trash mobs
