Thorns is used for anti air and afk. He can also block but let's just assume you can flex a blocker if you're going a ranged laneholder. So here are other options

• Anti air: Exu (though kind of outdated)
• AFK: Fiametta, Specter, Lappland

If you just want pure tanking, Hoshi is the right direction you're going for. I wouldn't bother with Sankta for now. Specter is also a cheaper option.

Maybe you don't want to block because the enemy is too tough? No worries. Continue building Ascalon and you won't need to worry about elites taking your ground ops out with her slow
