There are a few things about Skadi that have always stood out to me, and a lot of them come down to how incredibly well written she is as a character. Her lore, her history, the quiet weight that seems to follow her wherever she goes. It all feels carefully crafted in a way that makes her feel real rather than just another character in a story. The depth behind her background is something I genuinely admire. It’s the kind of writing that makes me stop and think, the kind that makes me wish I could reach that same level myself one day. The way her story carries both strength and loneliness at the same time is something I find really powerful.

Part of why she resonates with me so much is that I see small pieces of myself reflected in her personality. Outside of my usual online stupidity, I’m actually pretty similar to her in a lot of ways. I tend to keep people at a distance, even when I don’t necessarily mean to. Friends of mine have joked that trying to have a serious conversation with me is like “walking through a field of barbed wire." Not impossible, but made horribly difficult none the less. It’s not something I intentionally do to hurt people, but more like an instinctive barrier I’ve built over time.

With the people I do let close, things don’t necessarily get much simpler. I usually wrap everything in layers of sass and sarcasm, almost like a kind of armour. It keeps things light on the surface, but it also keeps people just far enough away that they don’t see too much at once. Even when part of me wishes I didn’t do that, it’s just the way I’ve learned to interact with people. In that sense, Skadi’s quiet distance and reserved nature feel oddly familiar to me. There is a very few handful of people that I've sort of let through this barrier - One of which being my partner of whom I married.

Most of the time I’m also perfectly content being on my own. If I had to choose between being alone or being surrounded by people, I’d almost always pick solitude. (Unless It's with my partner, Solitude with them is pretty perfect lol) There’s something peaceful about it. No expectations, no pressure, just space to think and exist without having to constantly engage with the world. Skadi carries that same kind of solitary energy, like someone who moves through the world comfortably in her own space, even if it means standing apart from everyone else.

Beyond her personality and story, I also really love her design. Her standard appearance strikes this really nice balance between being striking and gentle at the same time. The color palette is beautiful and soft without feeling dull, and it complements her character incredibly well. One detail I especially like is her rosy, blood-red eyes. They stand out just enough against her pale complexion to tie the entire look together. It gives her an almost haunting kind of beauty, something elegant but slightly distant, which fits her character perfectly.

All in all, there’s just something about Skadi that sticks with me. Between her writing, her personality, and her design, she’s a character I genuinely admire. In some ways she feels like a mirror for parts of myself, and in others she represents the kind of storytelling I wish I could create one day. And honestly, that combination is probably why I like her as much as I do.
