Create a new quest border for all event bosses to differentiate them.
-
Show event bosses always once discovered so no solo killing.
-
Show event bosses at the same time as other bosses so you don't miss any. Show multiple as well (i.e. 3 turkeys could spawn at once)
-
Have some kind of pity system for limited items. No idea what this could be but I grinded a few hundred turkeys on my doom and never got the hat. Super huge bummer.
-
Put more than 1 item in collection quests like the bones. Give us a little RNG and something more for us to grind for. I got 2 stacks for an item and collection piece and didn't pick them up anymore.
-
Don't move the turkey/enemy that we have to kill.
-
Leave its carcass in the world and add it to the map so we can see where it dies.
-
If you're going to separate loot (i.e. Baby Turkey + Turkey), give us more loot to get. Baby literally dropped nothing the entire event. Killed hundreds of them for 1 hat. It was also included in the paid quest but it doesn't feel worth it at all. You gave us more chances at the loot via purchasing the quest but gave us no loot compared to Halloween.
-
Add the special chest to the map so we have extra visuals to not miss it.
To note, the baby turkey and the egg dropped wishbones at a higher rate which allowed them to be a way to build towards the wishbone collar, so they did give you something
Just I do realize how players may want more choices from that token item instead of 1
In my eyes the concept of the wishbones were a semi-pity system that ensured players got a limited item.
I can look at seeing how to make things feel more rewarding.
The hard part with the quests is how they cost money, so they can't be TOO rewarding, and inherently since the main feature of it is the hat unlock at 1k medallion for 500 medallion instead, all the other rewards are really extra
We can try to look into how to make those even more rewarding [and I tried to make them more rewarding this event too]
Halloween dropped the pumpkin that had: a hat, boots, tabi, and 3 candies. This event had an egg and a turkey that dropped bones for an item that any player who played the game got like 10 of, a hat, and 1 candy
I understand. I think the thing to bring up is that originally thanksgiving was supposed to be a small event
halloween was a medium event
Not only that but halloween was 3 hats to choose from (big vs small event obviously but you still killed the spectre which is the same as turkey)
which is why the amount of quests varied
Obviously I could've created a dozen items
but there's a reason why I only created so few
The size of the event shouldn't matter if the price of the quests are the same. 6 item possibilities per paid quest versus 3
6 items?
.
You're counting each candy as a unique item?
Sure, people care about them
We can remove them and the point still remains but sounds worse
3 vs 1
yes
And the reason why I didn't make so many candy's this time per example and again, made the wishbones
was because people complained at halloween that the pumpkin only dropped candies
therefore wishbones allow a more direct path to an item
you're happier to get a wishbone then a piece of candy
since one at least gives you an item at the end
Both are meaningless to me because they dropped like... candy 🤣 I'd rather have had less candy + wishbones + boots + tabi like halloween (speaking on rewards being less even though quests remained the same price, regardless of "size" of event). Anyway, that's my feedback. Feel free to delete our chatter considering its a feedback thread.
Its still feedback so I think it should stay here
people can agree or disagree with me and its more honest for others to see all of it as well
I'll take this into consideration though for sure
I hope people enjoy the buffs I gave to the amulets at least :)
its hard since they are limited. They can't be too strong
Event boss border would definitely be nice to have, and always showing event boss on map (when its alive) would be a massive QoL for these kind of events
I forgot to tag the message but I was agreeing with kyle for those
I wasn't around for the Halloween event (I only played 1.0 and stopped after a month or two) but this event was really fun! I especially liked the sound of the turkey as I punched it repeatedly... That probably sounds horrible but it's true, haha. The very first turkey I fought was in a t1/t2 area, and I was surprised how much damage it did. Luckily I'm a gamer so I didn't die, but it might be good to notify newer players how strong the enemy is if it's in a lower tier location. (Maybe it showed its level and I just didn't pay attention). I personally loved having a chance between the ammy and the tessen, because it felt really special when I got the tessen. And as a shao main, I just really liked having a turkey tessen as a drop. Like, I've never been more excited for a drop. I have a dilemma between hating calling out stuff (I'm a slow type-r on mobile), and wanting to have people call event stuff. It'd be better to build in a more reliable map or compass for players looking to event, so they don't need to rely on others calling or not. Other than that, I really enjoyed the event and I'm looking forward to Christmas! The game is awesome even without events though.
I forgot to mention that the amount of food drops was also AWESOME 👍🏽 fit the theme well, and kept me in the game longer. I usually play it safe and don't go into harder fights without full slots of food
please no more running bosses and chasing after ducks… other than that it was fine but the boss felt same as hallowe’en boss
you feel the boss logic was too simple?
and yeah, the running baby turkeys were a little too hectic lol
- Biggest problem for me was the running baby turkeys, i can kinda see it as a fun gag if it was one, but since its 3 and they run in different directions and through lava at times, it became unfun. Then you kill one and you cannot find where the other 2 died
- Rest of the event was very good, the wishbone system was welcome as a reward for playing and not relying completely on rng
- I think hat droprates might be too rare especially if the event is only there for a week
- The item droprates seems at a good place. But maybe also limiting it to one drop per boss to not have to roll a 50/50 on a rare and timegated item is the way to go. Some doom characters were super stressed out trying to find a specific item which takes away from the fun of the event
- all three of the items have cool designs, and i think fit as some sort of a swapout, i do find it a bit weird that the change on the hp ammy is adding armor rather than sticking to the theme of it being an hp amulet and giving it a bit more hp
I believe more hp was not added to avoid it being the same as colossal hp amulet, since the goal was to bring it up to +10 stats and more hp would make it the exact same
but colo hp is 100 health right? if it was at 80 or 90 hp with a cool passive it would fit well i think imo
limiteds are supposed to be around rare-epic tier with a twist
Would be interesting, only slightly less stat but has the passive, which can potentially give a lot of value especially if in the future theres more stackable foods
People would not want to use it in that case
If it just had X hp, it would also get too close to colo hp
So it was easier to create a new stat for it which is still more unique (not a bamboo ammy clone)
I am not sure, i think nobody currently would use colo hp
but a colo hp variant with a cool ability is smth i would easily consider given the hp changes
even at the expense of some hp
but a solid passive
Thats fair
Things can change, though a first good step is to see how people value the ammy now :)
I had another idea for it where it could have like 120 hp, -X stat (not too big)
Would allow it to be the most hp
i like the sound of that
but yeah the current one is alright
its a solid defensive swapout
I feel the boss was just copy from loom with some small changes, it felt exactly the same as hween event and I dislike both of them… running and trying to find turkey like looms before is annoying and nobody calls and still the compass didn’t get fixed, just pain in the ass when you’re trying to chill farm
this event I only farmed for 1-2 hours couldn’t be bothered doing that for not really a good reward, the ducks were useless not dropping anything but hat and running away…. i just don’t like when you make something that waste time and no real reward in the end (chasing ducks, chasing spawns etc)
I guess my question would be what feels like a real reward for you?
Limited items are limited in strength (I cannot make them too strong).
Do you prefer items that are more class specific than amulets? (Like the boot tabi or staff halloween had?)
if you can’t make event items to strong just make reskins of mythics or something that people would feel it’s worth it, a tessen and 3 hats are not worth it imo I’d rather have reskinned dbane than turkey tessen 😅 you can make them untradable so it wouldn’t effect market just something that would feel worth grinding
Reskinned items just feel lazy for the most part which is why we've tried to have some fun new items that players can use
you don't think the 2 amulets have a place in the game?
honestly reskinned filler items sound sick. i’d love to have some reskinned myth tekkos. require way less dev time to pack events with items, and reskins already exist so it’s not like they’re introducing a new type to be lazy or something
reskins don't currently exist, but slight altered reskins do exist
only reskins really would be the different epic color
If I make a list of event items
can you guys tell me if you like them, don't like them, why you like them and why you don't?
I'd just like to get more of your POV
Candy cane weaponry
Dragon Robe
Dragon Armor
Clover Amulet
Halloween tabi/boot
Scythe
Horn O Plenty
Wishbone Collar
Turkey Tessen
I think that is all of them currently
never used one and never will they don’t feel worth it at all to use
they are more for bank and nothing else
and most people collect them to trade later
Would you rather they be very powerful with strong drawbacks?
Like how I mentioned earlier horn could be 120 hp with -X stat so it is above colo hp
but it also isn't "obviously the most powerful"
nah i’d rather have reskins as the new “fun” limited items are not really fun nor useful
and also what’s gonna happen when event comes back? will we have same items again?
If we had both, would that make you happier at least? I feel like part of the event items is having more interesting element. But I imagine we could have some reskinned items as well
With some new ones
if you ever go with reskins, make them literal skins we can apply to the item pls ty
kits basically?
the two that i see are worst from the bunch: clover and horn
the rest are solid swapouts
clover especially
I'd feel that would be nicer since it also makes sure the myth in question is not dropped somewhere else
good idea kyle :)
yep exactly
yeah skins that’s what I mean, something that we can use not just put in bank and never use again
I can look into this then
However, there will still be some limited items since I do feel like they belong in the game
but I am down to have some special skins. I'll see how I can make them happen
I think zany you are looking past the fact that some items are meant to be swapouts and useful in certain situations/builds
limiteds usually try to fill that area
they are not supposed to be great items on their own
but be very useful in certain variants
also makes it less so that if you miss an event you missed out on something game changing
if you couldnt make it to an event which is 1 week long, it would feel terrible to not have a really good item because of it
give me one situation I would use anything else than I am using now on monk? when would i use scythe? or something like that I don’t care about swap out the game is to easy as it is you don’t need any swap outs
this way you can easily live without it
scythe seems solid for honor farming for example
same as the bone ammy
how? lol
scythe pulls enemies
the pull effect helps a lot
it’s not aoe and pull is annoying
Also to note
with clearing big amounts of enemies
exa damage is terrible for honor though
limited items are usable by discovery thread
not the damage but the item itself
i think scythe is even worse than exa staff for grinding enemies
dragon armors fill a good gap too
i think dragon is probably the best auto attack build dps armor
theres a huge difference in price between those two
and obviously exa HAS TO BE BETTER
imagine how people would riot if it wasnt
the boots/tabis are a banger swapout for rushing/changing location
ofc there is not enough content for all these items to haev a lot of use yet
but once there is more content
idk 2 charges on tabis can’t beat that
swapouts will be so much more valuable for gameplay
dungeons with the invisibility for exmaple would be sick
also 8 bag slots makes it annoying to carry swapouts
agree
no storage is a massive problem right now
well even 10 is same
and we are looking at backpacks soon
but that going to be looked at sooner or later
it is still more then 8 lol
and considering we allow players to put crystals in the consumable bar, it can help with carrying items
but yeah i really think once more content comes these kind of items will be great
currently their use is very limited
so i guess its just foundational work
for big picture set up
yeah i know i just feel like people who dont care about limited items should have something else to grind as those limited items i guess are good for new people or swapouts I really would like to see skins or something else than just limited items that are mediocre
as said above
I am down to look into that
but you need to give me the time to see how I can implement that since it does require some new systems
the game progresses way to slow for me to enjoy any part of it anymore 1000 hours and the game changed 3 times and not much real progress in last year or so, just saying we need something to grind as honor grinding is not my cup of tea
I understand
I have systems in mind
but again, it takes time
I just ask for a bit of trust in the team's new update schedule
I liked the new token feature since it actually rewarded you for playing the game and not just relying on rng, however it could be better.
You could add an event token shop where 1 of each new event item is up for grabs for a certain amount of tokens. This would guarantee that with enough grinding even the unluckiest of people still gets something out of the event. If it's too convenient you could even make these one time purchases untradable so they don't hold any actual "value".
For some criticism this boss felt too similar to the wraith and the little turkeys running around while funny to look at, weren't all that fun to chase.
Yeah this idea seems like a good way to keep the drops from staying in a bank forever.
I feel like people who don't care about limited items should just play the game like normal. You don't lose anything by others gaining limited items
The other thing to grind for that isn't honor is mythics and stuff. You could always grind for those and just get honor along the way without worrying too much about it
