anyone know why the player base has grown so much over the last half year or so? I'm guessing the increased popularity in RedM explains it but i haven't found a way to verify that

What are you basing those numbers on? If you're looking at steam, there was winter sale just recently.

thats probably a factor, but its been on sale before, and it hit it record player count back in November of 2023, well after the last major update and before the winter sale started

There was a sale around that time as well, maybe people were buying stuff before holiday season. Also they've done another sale in OCT when they offered lesser discount. Perhaps it got people scared so they grabbed it asap once next lower one came around.

Yeah I've also seen a lot of people in volvo forums rebuying game on steam second time, aka migrating from rsc (which ofc is pointless), so I guess their strat to delay steam release is working out as well eventually.
