#To the people who bought a second-hand oculus headset of any kind
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
is it really worth getting VR for the advancements and enjoyability
If not I'll get something that contributes to the same hobby
You can try buying refurbished from Amazon or something
No idea how to buy used stuff outside of that though
Would you mind linking that?
I forgot to mention that point
I haven't bought a second hand oculus quest but I've helped and guided a lot of 2nd hand buyers and the main thing is that most second hand quests have some sort of problem like the lenses are scratched, the IPD adjustment is really Clancy, etc...
Its just a flood of aftermarket mods instead of refurbished vr headset offers
even with strict filters
Yeah I've been considerate about who the owners are
Its simply the fact I see nowhere to truly obtain a cheaper vr headset like I've got enough for ~200 but not 300-400
Where are you looking to buy it from?
Not even mentioning the obvious scams
I've checked marketplaces like letgo, fb, etc but anything reputable
I’m looking on Amazon and the prices are fucking ridiculous mate not sure I can help you
Just keep checking FB marketplace
I'm in the US also
Probably your best bet
Make sure you turn on the headset and all that before you buy it
My picks would be
- Facebook marketplace (pay after inspection of the product)
- eBay (also inspect product before pay)
- Amazon refurbished or meta refurbished.
meta has their own refurbished product?
GG @surreal timber, you just advanced to level 1!
Yeah but it's not available for some reason
I've been steering away from ebay since 1 I've never really used it and 2 I doubt there are too many local options compared to facebook
Yeah ebay is only good in the US
I guess its not so available without coughing up the money
I do have a job but its terrible for pay for the amount of work I do
Yeah not much options for really cheap except Facebook marketplace.
Gl ig
Thanks for the info too
I guess I'll check around ebay more
What are some things to look for if I do find one?
lens, charging port? strap, stuff like that
Also Are all quest 2's pcvr compatible or is it solely standalone vr
I've got a decent pc to pair it with
Plenty of space behind my setup
I got myhopes up because I saw people posting about the absolute steal of a price they got
it seemed like such a common trend
seeing it now people are selling heavily used ones for damn near msrp
Yeah they’re PCVR compatible
i bought mine from cex (a games and electronics store in uk/ireland) for £160
had to sell quite a bit to get it
Just don‘t get scammed and verify that the lenses aren’t scratched and the display has no sun damage
Im hoping to pick it up in person
Just need to wait for responses
Its specifically under 20 miles away
definitely checking the quality before paying
thats an obvious
Looking through some offers makes me lose hope in humanity
its a headset only
no controllers no nothing
Insanely good deal or too good to be true? "as new face pad and comes with brand new head strap, an unpackaged face pad and eyeglass connector. Also comes with charging cable."
I can offer to meet halfway/nearby in order to test
Seems like a too good to be true kind of seller
Their location is all over the place
Got a response for 185(original was 200 but they offered to lower it since its an old post) on a 256gb used a single time for a few minutes before their older child didn't like it much
Everythings included
supposedly no scratches
GG @surreal timber, you just advanced to level 3!
