why would bother switching to cat 8? are you bandwidth limited by the cable?
if not then its just a waste of effort to find out if it would work and a waste of money to purchase
cat 8 cables are backwards compatible but I'd be surprised if you need a cable capable of 40Gbps
my cable only getting me like 200-300 mbps

check the rating on the current cable, i think they normally say capability on the shielding
i'm using cat 5e cables that allow well over 500Mbps, I've seen 800 before when my accom internet removed the cap
What part on the cable would say the speed thingy
they normally just have writing along the cable
