The other option is do dailies discounts since on average they end up better value than the 7.5k and 10k tiered scouts. The secret best option however is just to stop buying 15k gems a month because honestly you never need that much for this game

But dailies are only a little worse than the 5k selects in value (the caveat being dailies are effective over a longer period of time so you’re not likely to get every pair you spend dailies on)

So they’re much more efficient than the tiered scouts, even the cheapest tiered scouts (7.5k for variety pairs)

The only instance that I would recommend doing the tiered scout is if you want to guarantee a pair if they’re a fav. However I think using 36.6k free gems is more efficient than using 10k or 20k paid gems by quite a decent margin.

However like I said, I don’t recommend buying lots of paid gems anyway. If you are going to spend a bit on paid gems then the first priority is selects, and then dailies. But I wouldn’t look at paid gems as a way of getting your favs, free gem saving is the best for that

20k paid scouts are for new units with their own banners, and on average you’re going halfway through the scout before getting the pair. In which case dailies are just WAY more efficient since it’s so expensive.

As for the 10k tiered scout, it’s almost always a shared banner at least 4 ways. In this case you’re on average doing the whole scout before getting the pair you want (or around halfway to get one pair). In such a case you’re correct in the paid scout being better than dailies, however I wouldn’t recommend using paid gems at all, since I think 36.6k free gems are the better option than 10k paid anyway.

In almost all cases if you want to guarantee a pair then free gems are the way to go. Paid gems are moreso useful for occasionally getting pairs you might want but are not committed to using a pity for.

20k tiered scout is never worth...i only consider the 7.5k or 10k seasonal rerun...but luckily i dont have any seasonal rerun that i need to chase so 10k seasonal is out of the picture, although i will still get 7.5k tiered if my faves appear as spotlight or variety. I use free gems for new pokefair, new master fair or new seasonal fave pairs, not gonna include new spotlight in the list as 7.5k tier for spotlight is a better alternative for me that have both free and paid gems

I personally don’t recommend spending money on something you can’t guarantee, even if tiered scouts are more expensive on average.

Your last comment is very reasonable, however that’s a normative claim of what one ought to do. It may be your opinion that you prefer spending more on average for the sake of more stability, however the original question was about the most efficient use of paid gems, which is not a question about personal preference.
