Iirc we get around... 80k? orbs monthly, if you don't buy them anywhere, but complete csmm and have double chest teams.
Even with 999k orb limit it would take a year to reach it.

Not like they're usable for anything with full grids. Though the process itself is tedious, so it's a personal preference.

You can't, so you'll have to wait for new grids to become available. You can free some space -> trade down orbs -> leave MC gridless for future, so you can always have free orb space.
