on average id say aiming for around 400-500 spending range is reasonable with most boxes.
grab +300-400% range of one stat upgrade you can focus on and one damage upgrade activation type you can reliably trigger with most of your teams, even with a less developed box

and the mode becomes a breeze even on VH

of course, it doesnt always show up, but i find its easier to find applicable damage ups than stat ups usually unless arceus graces you with a region or MC or Rival
