Thankfully, to mitigate it, some very smart people have made a tool to help you figure out what you'll be seeing in your current round. Just put in the sync pairs of each stage when needed and it will tell you the projected line-up with pretty good accuracy. At worst, you'll need to wait a bit to get results.

Generally, you can see hints of that if you check their teams before going in, as they'll indicate if they want something like Type REbuff or Trapped or so on, indicating that's related to their defensive skills. Alternatively, the fight itself, if a defensive skill is active, will have it show up when you hit. Just look it up from there and alter your team as needed.
